Too late to be asking such questions. What choice do you have anyways if there is afterlife or not.? We should be a good human being anyways.
You remember the movie "the village" where residents were forced a belief by some village elders that there are monsters living in the surrounding jungle, just so they would never cross the wall and reach the modern civilization.
well, exactly my point…we should be good people not because of what we think an imaginary, evil god wants us to do or for the promise of paradise and flowing rivers of milk and hooors.
and you example suggests that you’ve had a change in the way you think
But I do believe. If I won't then I will go insane. The mystery of how life evolved nothingness into intelligent life forms without a grand designer, is too difficult of a concept for me to swallow.
the mystery of god speaking to random men sent down on earth and conveying different religions to them at different points in history is a bit difficult to swallow...
esp because the universe and life did not start with us.
But how do you know that animals do not follow some kind of religion, or at least some religious guideline.
So Einstein says that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, yet scientists have found galaxies that are traveling away from us faster than light. It's not a contradiction. It's just different set of conditions that make both incidents true.
Maybe the contradictions that we are finding in words of God are the reflection of our own misunderstandings.
but why do we think everything in this universe and beyond was created and the stage was set for our existence? compare the millions of years not just this planet but this universe has existed to our meager existence of about 150,000 years..
I agree to that bit. In fact I believe that there is plenty of life in existence all around the universe. We are no special. Just our own galaxy was enough to justify our existence, even from scientific point of view. Creating a universe with billions of such galaxies just for us, would be a huge waste of real estate.
But I do believe. If I won't then I will go insane. The mystery of how life evolved nothingness into intelligent life forms without a grand designer, is too difficult of a concept for me to swallow.
I think that is part of the reason why I haven't totally given up on the concept of God.
did you miss the “and if not” portion of my post? or the sentence above the one you chose to highlight and pick on (selective reading and comprehension like psyah)…it’s called contemplating and discussing. not saying anything with authority
