Um something like Essay writing, or First person to solve a Rubic's Cube within 2 seconds, or a 800m nonstop race, or developing the best software application,.

And what about having a DRAW. Where peeople just put their names in (For free) and whoever gets their name drawn out wins.

In all these situations, in my opinion it should be ok rite?

All forms are ok .. except about DRAWN OUT... What is the nature of DRAW? On what conditions, this happens... There must be some pre-set criteria (a tie on a competition or individuals' credentials were first taken into consideration etc.) otherwise it may not be categorized as Islamically legal as well....
