What has Hinduism given to the world?

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

where did you get your information?

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Guys these things are or were there in every religion...sati in hinduism, christians crucifying themselves on cross in Phillipines and in islam honour killings(hudood or whatever it is) etc. Just accept and move on.

But in this age, things have changed. We have new definitions. We will have to defy old definitions. I am sure hindu scriptures have spoken both "for" and "against" sati. If it hasn't spoken against it then we will have to defy it. "Hinduism defies definition". Look at this sentence positively, you will find explanations for every aspect in life. whether it is good or bad, right or wrong, north or south, east or west...covering the whole universe.....in the mean time defying itself (perhaps the only religion or creed or what ever it is that does that). It will cover every viewpoint. Both pro's and cons of life. It's just a question of choice and reap karma's according to the choice you made. By the way, this was just meant only to hindus. I dont mean to hurt anyone. I dont want to know what others think about my faith. And i dont care about it. thanks...and take care

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

nikhil25 What is your opinion about the information I posted.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

my opinion is that you have posted garbage from a hilarious propaganda website known for fabricating entire religious books and quotations, not to mention blatantly malicious mistranslations and bogus out-of-context portrayals.

as a muslim, i think you would know all too well about this, right? there are plenty of horrible and disgusting things written in the Quran according to many, many informational websites about Islam. in fact, they are fully referenced and quoted. Would you consider these to be credible and would you recommend others to read about Islam from these websites?

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Obvious from this thread is that when hindus are given the reference they resort to muslim/islam bashing instead of giving straight answer.

Sadly, they have no other option but try to run from topic.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Nikhil just read what i have written about hinduism(post number:102, this thread)(i am not trying to be arrogant). I am telling you because you are a hindu. please pardon me if you find me being arrogant. It was lahore who gave that definition of hinduism("hinduism defies definition"...which i fully agree with this definition). Go to "followers of hindu philosophy", thread...you will get that defiintion by kushwant singh (which lahore981 fully subscribed or accepted...hope it is not deleted)

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

nikhil25

You are assuming a lot.

It really doesn't matter what I post and from where I post as long as YOU can tell us what is right. What matters is how you clarify the argument. What matters is that YOU being a Hindu tell us what is right, if you think whatever I posted is bogus..... right???? Makes sense......!!!!!

Which hilarious propaganda website are you talking about? I did not refernce anyone yet !!!!!

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Let me rectify here.
That definition was given by Khushwant Singh and I simply quoted it. You'd find the reference in the thread "followers of Hindu philosophy"

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Now you’d deny that cow is not gOD. But here is a quote from Athra Veda and from a Hindu website that preaches eating the out pourings of the cow… Now please don’t say I have posted it from some propaganda website. It is a Hindu website preaching worshipping cow…
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Worship to thee, springing to life, and worship to thee when born!
Worship, O Cow, to thy tail-hair, and to thy hooves, and to thy form! Hitherward we invite with prayer the Cow who pours a thousand streams,
By whom the heaven, by whom the earth, by whom these waters are preserved…
Forth from thy mouth the songs came, from thy neck’s nape sprang strength, O Cow.
Sacrifice from thy flanks was born, and rays of sunlight from thy teats. From thy fore-quarters and thy thighs motion was generated, Cow! Food from thine entrails was produced, and from thy belly came the plants…
They call the Cow immortal life, pay homage to the Cow as Death. She hath become this universe, Fathers, and Rishis, hath become the Gods, and men, and Spirits.
The man who hath this knowledge may receive the Cow with welcoming.
So for the giver willingly doth perfect sacrifice pour milk…
The Cow is Heaven, the Cow is Earth, the Cow is Vishnu, Lord of Life. The heavenly beings have drunk the out-pourings of the Cow,
When these heavenly beings have drunk the out-pourings of the Cow, They in the Bright One’s dwelling-place pay adoration to her milk. For Soma some have milked her; some worship the fatness she hath poured.
[We have combined bhakti yoga (devotion) and raja yoga (meditation). Some treat the two aspects as separate ways of salvation.]
They who have given a Cow to him who hath this knowledge have gone up to the third region of the sky.
He who hath given a Cow unto the Brahmans winneth all the worlds.
For Right is firmly set in her, devotion, and religious zeal.
Both Gods and mortal men depend for life and being on the Cow.
She hath become this universe: all that the Sun surveys is she

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

All hindus please read post 102 and 106 of this thread.Others can piss on me and also on my faith, but pls read it.This is just a blog or whatever, so i dont care.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no "honour killing" in Islam.... it might be in so-called-Muslims but its not backed by religion.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

^ By the way, Christianity also nowhere promotes or orders crucification.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

okay...lets accept even that.....that such things are there only in hinduism. Why?...because i dont care what is there in other religions...As lajawab quoted in verse from quran " my religion is mine and yours is yours".

But i do want all hindus to read the post 106 and 102 in this thread. I just want them understand what hinduism is all about. If they understand what it stands for, they will start ignoring everything that is so called "negative" things pointed out by others and they will simply start respecting it even more. thats all i want. What others think about my religion.....i dont care and want other hindus also learn stop reacting to it.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Exactly! Just look at how it started out:
First they say provide referrences. Once they’ve been provided references ( exact reference, from the books, i.e: **Brahma Purana.80.75 **), they say that the translations are wrong. And then, they, themselves fail to provide the correct translations. Then, they attempt to bring Islam (and other religions) into the discussion. …All the while, the questions go unanswered.

Clever trick, isn’t it? :naraz: Too bad for them, we don’t fall for it.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

I dont mean to offend anyoe, but my understanding of hindusim is that its a culture before a religion

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

What point  . Just because hinduism is not a religion of book does not mean you cannot have literature on it. I know very well that you understand it well and I am not trying to change your opinion koopmandook!!!
neeyat nek ho to miyaan dushman bhi dost ban jaate hain…
rahi baat tumhari, tum nahi samjhoge…

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

okay....i wont quote any verse from islam....but please all hindus read the post 102,106 and 113.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

YOu guys.....find faults with hinduism...whereas in the thread "followers of hindu philosophy", you say that "god forbid....nobody is finding faults with hinduism", whereas clearly doing the same here....

You know what lahore....you said "It really doesn't matter what I post and from where I post as long as YOU can tell us what is right. What matters is how you clarify the argument. "

For you i have this, But in this age, things have changed. We have new definitions. We will have to defy old definitions. I am sure hindu scriptures might have spoken both "for" and "against" sati. If it hasn't spoken against it then we will have to defy it. "Hinduism defies definition". YOu accepted this.

Again "we simply defy this custom", in this age.

"I bow before all women who did sati...But doesn't mean that i support it anymore....It was mainly done by kshtriyas...more comman among rajputs.......By the way, i am a 'rajput'. Look at my name...you will get that. I know more about this sati...than anyone else....again i bow a 1000 times to all those women, who all did this...from their perspective, it was great...for others it was barbaric...for them, their husbands were like god....but no matter what, we are against this, in this age....we might not have liked what they did....but the one who created this universe, would have taken a serious look about those women, who had the guts to do that".

We are hindus.....In what ever form we pray to god, do servise to god...whether that god has "form" or "not", we are idol worshipers, cow worshippers...like it?....we are sure that our prayers and the courage of those women would have pleased the creator of this universe...no matter what method we adopt.. I might have rambled here a lot, but i simply mean it. take it or leave it. you can piss on me....i dont care..i respect all those women....who did something like that which i cant do.

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

You are learning about Hinduism from Lahore......... :D
Ofcourse you dont' get right prespective of all other religion.......... :)

Since the position isn't about understanding........... :D

Re: What has Hinduism given to the world?

Nobody, except you recognizes Manusmriti as a sacred book.

Yeah. If you regard dalitstan.org or Sita Agrawal, then I’m sure Manu
was the father of mankind, and Benazir Bhutto was the mother…

Written/revealed is the same thing in this part of the world. Maybe not
so in Arabia.

Statistical figures from Mughal times. I’ll provide you with
statistical figures of honour killings from yesterday.

Hinduism has only the following Holy Books :

Vedas : Rig Ved, Yajur Ved, Sama Ved, Atharva Ved. Composed around 3000 B.C. according to Max Mueller.

Ramayana.–24,000 verses.

Mahabharata : Contains the Bhagawad Gita as a subset.

Upanishads.

Listen Lahori. The Puranas are COMMENTARIES. They have various
contradictions and nonsense amongst them. Example :

1] Lord Brahma copulated with her own daughter says one (to give birth
to Goddess Saraswathi) and took her out of his ear (says another
purana).

The next two are quoted from an expert in Hinduism Brahmachari
Shrutichaitanya, an expert on Hinduism at About.com. This is what he
had to say to a question:

2] I came across lines in the shiv purana that implied that Shiva
created Vishnu. This is obviously not compatible with shrimad
bhagvatam.

3] Puranas are nothing but religious novels. It would be vain to
look for integrity among the puranas. There are many things among
puranas which do not tally.
Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma are symbols of
the One Supreme God. Stories about their creation vary very much and
it is best to ignore these stories and concentrate on the core
teachings contained in the Upanishads.
