I certainly empathized with them for 10yrs of my life to begin with as I understand the value of establishing restrictions. Now, I want to be a free bird of my own life and I can only perceive it via courage, strength, & trust within myself… I don’t want to live a fake life or make more compromises because I should be in control of my own life.

It seems that your challenge isn’t about not being able to be yourself, it’s asserting your independence vis-a-vis your parents. You want the liberty to do things that your parents, I assume frown upon, and to your way of thinking their disapproval of your independence is perceived to be them stifling your independent expression of your true being.

Many of us disagree with our parents restrictions on us, but we learn to live with those restrictions and where necessary, make compromises. But, that my dear requires maturity and the ability to empathize with our parents perspective as well.
