I hear many stories in news about honor killing been taken place in subcontinent area a lot. What does Islam has to say about it?

Although I don't have any sources on hand, but I don't think Islam would ever propagate honour killings or anything of such nature. Besides, I don't think honour killings are based on Shariah.

In my humble opinion, the question is quite useless. Even questioning means that there is another possible answer opposite to what Sadiyah mentioned.

during the reign of hazrat ali (ra), a man, in syria, saw his wife in an inappropriate position with another man, and he killed her when he saw this....
muaweyah (ra), the ruler of the place, was confused about how to deal with the issue so as a political move, he told the people to take the case to the khalifah, hazrat ali (ra)....
hazrat ali (ra) said that the person whud have reported the misbehavior to the authorities, but he acted on his own, and hence must be tried for murder....
i think this is evidence enuff that honor killings have nothing to do with Islam....

In Islam, there should be witnesses, a fair trial and when it's prooven a person really did commit zina (there are two kinds btw, one for married who get more punishment, and one for the unmarried who if I'm right are not condemned to death) then the authorities will give the proper punishment, be it death or anything else.
Unfortunately many people either don't know the rules or don't care, very often innocent people are killed for nothing.

Bhai Sincerely where are you going to find four witnesses for either a Rape or for an Extra Marital Affair???
So pray how are you going to prove That you were Raped ( and Thats just a hypothetical (sp) Question, so dont start jumping).
Are you going to have 4 witnesses stand by while your hymen is broken or your modesty is being Raped.

stoning is prescribed in hadith as a punishment for married people who comit adultery....
100 lashes for those who r unmarried and do the same....

quite correct. Although i think stoning is a Hadd punishment and not applicable in all cases,your thoughts?I am not sure on this
