Cell Phones are getting predictably boring now. There is nothing that your cellphone can do that in one way or the other, mine cannot do. Yes, screens can get flashier, cameras can become powerful, displays can get more resolution, but then what?
What technology do you want to see in your phone that they currently don’t have. Technology can be there, just not part of cellphones (like maybe a FM radio or on Air TV receiver), or something futuristic like a full body scanner (much like Star Trek).

most importantly - not die when it falls into water.
secondly, replace a wallet, and home and car keys.
i have a feeling the whole health tracking part is overly exaggerated. the phone can be a link to the cloud, but not the sensor. much of the tech challenge in health tracking is in designing wearable sensors like a portable EKG or BP cuff. they arent simple, nor would they be cheap.
I agree. Maybe phones should come with dual battery, where the second battery is reserved only for phone calling , so even if the main dies down, the reserved battery can help you to make calls at least.

Hmmmm, not a bad idea. Let me patent the idea
I think a similar idea already exists. I can switch my phone to power saving mode which underclocks the phone's processor, switches the phone to a grayscale display and limits the number of app I can use. I don't know if there is an option that sends the phone to power saving mode once the battery levels drops to a specific level. Even if such a feature is not available out of the box, I'm sure there is an app for that or you could just put together a custom ROM for your phone that does this.
I know a lot of people need to carry their glucose testers around. A cell phone with one would be good. Back in 2004-2008 there was a lot of noise around portable testing devices but then it kind of died.
