To have proximity sensors that sound an alarm when you go a certain distance away from it.
To cause permanent hardware failure to itself when stolen making it absolutely useless to the thief before he/she can sell it to the next victim.

both those have been around on the iphone for a while now.. geofencing, autoerase, erase from network etc.

Re: What do you want your cellphone to do?

For now, we lag behind few of the basic things. Like battery-span is still so short, it should last for months. Phones are not reliable (even though CAT has released a tough one but its still not that hardcore). Cameras are still behind quality-wise. Space still can be an issue. OSes are laggy. Let them sort it first.

After that, I would probably want to see holographic displays, compact size (like having a ruler thin phone). That should do.
Having medical equipment is something very much possible right now. Health scanners are popping up in phones/wearables these days.

Also, VR needs to vamp up big time, its an exciting thing. Our whole experience can shift over devices from OCULUS etc..

Doesn’t work in the US. Chinese hawkers have been selling it on ebay for a while, but even they put a warning that it might not work in the good 'ole US of A.

Re: What do you want your cellphone to do?

I agree with lot of the desires that people expressed. Battery is the next frontier, as is storage. Both of these technologies are heavily being worked on
Data Storage Disk can store 360TB of data

For expanding screen example, there was this SciFi show on TV called Expanse. The people in there were carrying around these phones (which they called Terminals). It was a glass slab about the size of iPhone 4 which expanded and became bigger when needed.

For health and fitness we need nano-bots in our bodies which would be transmitting all the data to our phones and giving us up to the minute information about our body conditions. These are coming sooner than we think

And TLK, broadcast TV? Really? :hehe:
