I really appreciate that! 
I hate when I have planned birthday parties and such for hubby or another friend in the past, and there are always those friends who impose their views if whether or not a certain restaurant is appropriate for Muslims even after everything has already been planned. Keep in mind we are halalies too! I don’t understand why some have to ruin it for others. if your not comfortable, make an excuse and don’t come. It irks me when people start to preach.
I agree with the general sense here, don’t be afraid to decline drinks respectively around others but if it still makes you that uncomfortable to even go then politely decline and just explain your reasoning in simple sentences. I agree going to much into religion in the work place is not comfortable for me either but many many people now a days don’t drink for numerous reasons and most are understanding if their not made to feel uncomfortable for them drinking. It’s very normal to not drink for them too.
