I think it is a nice country with nice people, but their president is stupid.

Re: What do you think of Iran?
I think it is also corrupt like pakistan sadly.
Re: What do you think of Iran?
A great country with a staunch government and a very brave President who is not afraid to say his mind.
It's leaders might not be brilliant but they are much better than the leadership of Pakistan... Iran is nobody's poodle.
on a collision course with Israel/USA et el.
Aye and I think ultimately they will be triumphant... Iran is a real power.
Re: What do you think of Iran?
Would love to live there for a year or two !
Re: What do you think of Iran?
nice country. educated people. half the post-graduate students at university are iranian.
Re: What do you think of Iran?
love it
Re: What do you think of Iran?
would love to go there....my father lived there for a while before the revolution.
Re: What do you think of Iran?
I think they are very cultured and strong nation.....with rich history and tradition...
their 'independence' is very likeable..........but they need to fix some issues such as their superiority complex and meddling with arabs...........they could reform their political system a bit more......and they will be even a greater nation in no time..
Re: What do you think of Iran?
Iran is very important to the Muslim world. Its a key player when it comes to religion or politics/international relations. So it would be wise for the other Muslims to take Iran seriously and treat them with respect. I don't quite get all the scare mongering and the hypocritical Sunni Arabs who are against Iran. I'm a Sunni myself and I really don't want to turn this into a debate about sectarianism but its just ridiculous.
Anyway, back to the topic... I think Iran is a very intelligent nation and they've got a very rich culture and traditions. I do hope they were a bit more sensible when it came to their international politics. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer is probably the only sensible thing to come out of the Italians. I believe strengthening ourselves from the inside and then sorting out whatever business there is. Confrontational politics won't get anyone anywhere. Its all about being on the D/L :)
Re: What do you think of Iran?
The President is stupid because he speaks his mind, speaks against the real terrorist countries of the world, and does not speak the language of the mainstream media? Great!

Re: What do you think of Iran?
If every President of the world starts speak his 'mind' that says I'm gonna wipe xyz country off the map, surely the world be such a peaceful and progressive place. NOT
Anyway, the Iranians I know aren't fond of their president at all. They think his poisnous tongue has ruined their chances of getting the nukes in a relatively staright forward way.
Re: What do you think of Iran?
^ what nukes!
As for “wiping xyz country off the map” goes, there is difference between saying “wipe off the map” and “will wiped out from pages of history”.
Full text of that particular speech is on internet. Google it.

And perhaps also their chances of getting nuked. They have the 4th biggest oil reserves in the world, which naturally makes them the biggest 'threat' to the global police. If the big dog bites, they are going to bite back and their president has made it quite obvious. You can't intimidate someone who doesn't show any fear.
As a country they sport massive cojones, gotta give em that.

Some Presidents have already gone ahead and effectively wiped off a couple of countries in the last decade alone.
Why is it that some people are chastised for merely speaking, and others are let go scot-free even after committing heinous crimes?

Exactly! Welcome to the real world where actions speak louder than words, mere big talks would only get you chastised, what would happen to USA if she rants 24/7 about wiping Pakistan off the map? Just because they don't speak about their wild fantasies doesn't mean thet may not have the policies perfectly planned to destroy the country step by step. I don't have blind emotional support for Iran for heck of it, but I genuinely want this country to learn the art of diplomacy and politics to get its way without making itself look like a total outcast with all guns pointing towards her. The Iranians I know want Iran to have good economic and military relationships with the West, they don't want Iran to be their lapdog but they also don't Iran to look like their enemy number one. People love to champion Ahmadinjeda for his anti Israel, anti Jewish, Anti USA rants but they don't know that exactly what Western political elite need to proudly justify their share of hosility towards her.
