Taj Mahal is a wonderful monument left by the great Mughal Empire. All Indians should justifiably feel proud of this legacy left behind to remind them of their glorious heritage.

True, but think about this: Taj Mahal is one of the biggest attractions for tourists and consequently a lot revenue is generated from it. So in a sense, that money is paid off - just not to the generation who built it.
Actually, there is a big project of building Ghulam Ishaq Khan's grave in Pakistan. They are spending lot of money on it and GIK will be buried there when he dies. I am not joking. This is what Kawasjee's column in Dawn say. May turn out to be 8th wonder of the world.

muslims build that monument and who is benefiting from it today ? who is earning the foreign exchange?
No Kabir, people built it, and people are getting the foreign exchange.
