What do you think about NYPD?

What are your opinions about the New York police department? Is it a more dangerous job as compared to other states? If asked, would you take the opportunity to relocate?

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

as a detective? :smokin:

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

NYPD is nothing, agency is where it’s at.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Too many movies. Too. Many. Movies.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

as compared to LAPD, NYPD is NOT that racist or brutal.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Ummmm… DON’T TELL ME WHAT’S REAL!!!

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

I’m sure its as dangerous as any other city.

Without the relevant statistics it would be difficult to make an informed decision.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Its probably not as dangerous as it used to be in pre-mid ninty era. Juliani made that city a lot safer for general public and for the police department. The stories of crime infested subway stations and 42nd street and Harlem and Bronx is just part of old movies now.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Are you thinking of or are you joining NYPD ?

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Yep.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

What I heard… Bronx is dangerous to date… :hmmm:

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Upper State is much better isn’t it?

I am considering it, not quite sure. Though I don’t like living in New York. I’m not a city person.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Wow, again. I don’t know anything about this.

Hopefully somebody can guide you well.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

this is a little weird because you still havent explained what position it is. locksmith? detective? lab tech? janitor? psychologist? K9 trainer? mechanic? vat is it?

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

Does it make sense to ask how “dangerous” it is to be an NYPD Lab Tech, mechanic, or a janitor? As for the option of being a psychologist: I’m a Biochemistry major. Detective / K9 trainer: my field of study requirements and interest level doesn’t match up. Now that I’ve made is so much easier I hope your wild guess lands somewhere in the cop neighborhood. :snooty:

You are talKing about working for nypd, so no matter where you would be living, your work will be inside the city limit. NYC for its size and population, is a pretty safe city to live and work in.

Re: What do you think about NYPD?

General recommendation would be to stay out of any position that could potentially put you in the line of fire -
unless you have some real benefit to offset that scenario.

What do you think about NYPD?

Better than asking on GS, would suggest going straight to them, I’m sure they would be able to give you a better idea and inside scoop. In regards to more dangerous, I imagine each city has its major problems. You should find out from the source and doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be working in bad neighborhoods. You could be out in the suburbs too

You can always get in touch with the city office and request them a monthly crime report of a neighborhood. It’s usually a public info that is available on demand.
