Instead of Asslamu Alaikum? I know there was something- cant remember.Or is it just a regular hi/hello?
Aslaam-alaikum to Muslims and non-muslims who understand Islam. But I say hello and hi to non-muslims who don't understand Islam.
Well I do the same.
But from an Islamic perspective -is there a specific greeting for non Muslims?
I really don't think this is something to worry about! really!

-- Thread ! this question is away from the topic. sorry for that
Two reasons:
either you don’t have any knowledge about these things
or you just ask question in this tone (why & how) when you have opposing opinion about the matter.
I am seeing this since many days. Why is this so.
Yes that is correct, to the non muslims it is the usual greeting of welcome or hello!
we can greet them any possible way being a human-fellow but the words
or ![]()
if they say to us
Rasooulah :saw: tought us to return it with the only word “WALEKUM.”
Only people who deserve salam are those who accept the religion of Salam… That is my opinion based on ahaadeeth and tafaaseer I have learnt from and
I have firm beleive in my faith.
Aslaam-alaikum is also a Universal Greeting according to Ibn Kathir's book 'The Stories of the Prophets (Qisas-ul-Ambiya)'. This is how Prophet Adam (Peace Be Upon Him) greeted the angels and the angels returned the greetings by adding 'Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatu' at the end.
The more Islam you practice the better, because curious people then ask about it and that's how they learn about Islam.
I say "Wha gwan blood" :D :p

It is so becuase I believe we should stick to the Quran & Sunnah. Now passing out statements dont make much of difference for me unless they are backed by some textual evidence.
This I hope answers the question.
I like this greeting:
"Ik Onkar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru"

The way you ask questions shows that you know much more about Quran & Sunnah than others. if you really want to know and asking question; you method should be polite.
You never use the words like; please; request; thanks etc. This proves it.

I'll try to remember that in future. And I dont know much more about Quran & Sunnah. As I said earlier, I'm just a learner.
Besides I never intended to be rude. Allah [swt] knows the intentions best. I do agree that my choice of words might have been inappropriate.

If greeting non-muslims differently is something from Quran then that is extremely discriminatory and therefore wrong. God can not approve treating people from other faiths differently and consider them lesser human. In religion there should not be any room for prejudice.

You know what God can or can not approve, because..... ? He told you? Or you figured it all out yourself one day?
According a knowledgable muslim friend of mine, there is a hadith that enjoins muslims to not greet a non-muslim with Salaam alekykum nor return a non-muslim's S.A. with alekykum asalaam.
But then in real life not one muslim friend of mine has followed this hadith.
Why would you not greet a non-muslim with a perfectly acceptable "Hello", "Good morning" or "How ya doin', mate?".
I mean, whats wrong with them?
Re: Re: Re: What do you say to a non-Muslim?
Faisal, not to be too much of a pest here..but I find this comment a bit hypocritical considering people believe everything they read. see the parallel.. ![]()
