I cry my eyes out. Then I pray. Then I eat like a crazy person. Then I sleep.
It’s a very well thought out cycle.

Re: What do you like to do…
I isolate myself in my room, dim the lights, listen to Nusrat"s qawwalis, eat Kraft dinner, and ponder over the why’s and what now’s. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. Other times I distract myself with comedy shows, but it doesn’t work very well. I feel much better the next day or week later once I’ve gained some clarity over the situation, like what is and isn’t in my control. Praying helps too.

Re: What do you like to do…
I snap out of it…the philosophy is that people, circumstances and even you yourself do a number on you, why multiply it by dwelling in it. Stop a minute, acknowledge what I am feeling, try to observe and understand why, and then focus on whatever else I was doing or going to do.
Absolutely,
one has to recognize when one is getting in to udaasi borderline and may stay for a few seconds there but should jump back out.
if one stays longer, the cycle may go on and it may become difficult to get out.
But, then why even get to the point of udaasi if at all possible?
My motto:
Make yourself busy doing something.
Never stay too long at one place or be idol.
Plan the day well before.
Do something useful for yourself or others.
You will have very little time to be udaas.

Re: What do you like to do…
Madz, this song might help you cry to sleep.
Also, “Dard jab hadd se guzartaa hai, to pee laitai hain”. :halo:
But seriously, life is so busy that there is no time to acknowledge sadness.
However, things could be different in faraaghat.

Re: What do you like to do…
Who says men are not emotionally available?
Its just that some people have no time to be sad.
Oh, just FYI,
…there are lots of tharki men who would love to support a woman who is crying…

Re: What do you like to do…
I stay in my room for the first hour or so only to continue the story I’m writing (and drill my emotions upon the poor protagonist). Probably eat three cups of granola while I’m doing this.
Then I drive down to the nearest running track and jog like a maniac (occasionally cry during the jog, other times I’m just plain numb and dry).
Then me treats myself with a 4.4 oz Lindt white chocolate afterwards.

Re: What do you like to do…
very intense, indeed!..getting sad is a serious business…eh? how often does that happen? a couple of times a day? keep up the good work!
Re: What do you like to do…
Not quite.. Probably a few times a year.
I just realized I forgot to mention the mirror. That should have been the first thing. Upon entering my room I stare at myself in the mirror and cry. It’s a self pity kind of thing, yeah.

oh! i thought getting sad is an excuse to treat yourself and it should have happened more frequently!
do you also say: “mirror, mirror on the wall…”??? i know the mirror’s answer anyway!

I treat myself regardless of my emotional disposition.
Yes, I say: “Mirror, mirror on the wall.. speak and I’ll toss you out of the window, smashing you into a million pieces faster than you could say my name”.
Afterall, the last thing I need on a depressing day is a chatty mirror.

hmmm…so, you are NOT ‘chatty’ when you get angry?
