We should respect laws of the any land whether Pakistan , India or the west.
But the point is even google gives us links to sites that are anti-islam or for that matter anti-any other religion, does that mean we should ban google??
Google is a search engine, it does not do it by itself. I feel the saem about youtube, which i think shudn't be blocked.
Why stop there? These highly popular sites are not even a drop in the ocean as far as offensive content. So you can either shut down all internet and phone communications, maybe even electricity...or you can learn how to live in a multi-cultural, diversified world.
Porn is also widely available, do you restrict its access in your home or do you shut down electricity, internet and phone communications.
And as i said, if a material is illegal in a country, it has all the right to block. China has blocked google and twitter and dont find you all worked up on that.

sure I block porn at home, that is my personal choice, not the choice of my government yeah? No one other than myself and husband makes this decision for us.
Yes, countries can and do shut down certain sites and restrict access...they do not allow people to choose for themselves,they do not allow personalchoice, personal freedom or personal thought. I'm sure if we went to the chinese equivalent of GS we would find those who are all worked up over their situation too...

its full with Muslim people who definitely WOULD get offended if they see pics/videos (naozubuillah) of prophet SAW. So you tell me what's better, an all around country raging or some mere websites blocked and that too temporarily. Dont forget they have made it permanent and hopefully youtube and wikipedia will be back. I still stand on my views of keeping FB banned forever as they're nothing but a bunch of hypocrites
they won't delete these blasphemous pages of our prophet but they delete any thing close to being racist to jews/christians in a matter of minutes

In today's world popularity is not good or bad , its just more money . Yet again few evil brains played with muslim emotions to support their cause . Doesn't matter how much we tell people that Facebook is evil , but truth is that it will only attract more people to their business . Just yesterday an organization told me that they are getting more hits on their facebook account than ever before and so are the donations .

Pakistan is hoem of Pakistani people and they have the right to block any site they want to, these sites are NOT above the Pakistani law IN Pakistan. I am certain, you do beleive that every country has right to make laws in their own land and implement these laws.
Living in a mulitcutural world does nto mean the right to insult every culture, it means to respect every culture.
GS operates under the same principles. We have banned muslims from this site who were posting insulting remarks about religious personalities of non-muslims. Does this make GS operate like chinese?
i read somewhere 47% of the facebook population is muslim even if half of these boycott FB, FB will suffer massive losses

how can you have different opinions about youtube and facebook? like youtube, facebook didnt choose to put up the pictures, a group on facebook did.

ravage, nearly 75,000 facebook account holders asked them not to allow this as it is derogatory, i think they should have acted upon the request of that many people. On the other hand i am not aware of such campaign on youtube

first blogspot, then youtube, and now facebook and wikipedia… at this rate, Pak should simply ban all UGC websites 
- like our awaam, our govt. looks for reactionary measures, not responsive initiatives.
it shows that facebook management was well aware of the date of the event and it being offensive to muslims, i dont think thats true of someone who just goes to a website and uploads a video.

you’re just not in that group of people who spend their time on youtube warring against people, probably because you have a life. there are groups who post offensive videos to all sorts of people including Muslims, and others who counter by either posting counter videos or trying to get the offending video taken off. sometimes the videos get taken off, sometimes they dont. when they dont, its not because the organization has anything in particular against that group.. its because organization operate by certain rules.
there is no difference to the facebook scenario, except for publicity.

I think the group is in violation of Facebooks own policy on groups, which according to following link says that hateful groups or those who attack an individual or a group are not allowed.
