what do you guys think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

i think its a very positive step and a good protest
rather then acting violently destroying their own stuff this is a much better solution.

Those websites can go in loss if alot of people stop visiting them as they earn by per click terms.

what do you guise think?

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

well i endorse your view but this topic is already being dicussed in two separate threads.

most of the clicks they get are from the states

so neither website is going to go down just because they banned it in Pakistan

all the top youtubers are coming on tvs now, they're in the movies, some of em are singers, they "made it big" through youtube... u still think people are gonna stop visiting youtube?

its more popular than ever among teens

i'm not on either website but billions others are... and they love em

sorry i only knew about the thread in tech section

besides i wanted general all views opinion

if there's a thread like this in this section, mods feel free to close this down.

i read somewhere 47% of the facebook population is muslim
even if half of these boycott FB, FB will suffer massive losses

dunno how true it is though, but i been getting plenty sms's

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

i m pretty sure the wikipedia and youtube bans are temporary, since there will be a lot of offensive stuff about muslims. so in this situation its also a very good decision.

i saw a youtube vid where this american kid threw the Quran into the toilet... never searched for it again, so i don't know if its still there... and another where this dude threw the bible and the Quran on the floor... and ofcourse there's plenty of people practising their "freedom of speech" spewing more filth on muslims... all's good with youtube..

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

:S really :(

went through a phase where i was addicted to watching religion-related videos, both good and bad ones, even got to a stage where i would cry reading some of the comments that some youtubers had posted… but then i said to myself.. this is not going on i better quit watching n reading this BS or else im going to turn into a hater as well… haven’t looked back ever since… i just watch silly comedy vids on youtube now..

and yes there are plenty of atheists (not teens, not mentally retarded kids, but they’re actually quite respected, middle-aged individuals) who are on youtube for the sole reason of talking filth about religion (mostly islam) but other religions too…

Did you know there was (probably still is) a group on Youtube who used to plan to create fights with muslims on youtube? Every time they would see a nice video about islam, they would send messages to each other to start posting hateful comments on the vid so the person gets annoyed and starts a fight and other youtubers come n join in… :nahi: It was exposed by one of the members of the group i think… can’t remember properly i saw it ages ago ..

anyways.. as i said.. i dont watch this sorta stuff on youtube now.. its all depressing to see people fighting like that… good thing its banned for now… i’m sure the paki government saw some of this filthy stuff which is why they took such a serious action..

PS: youtube needs to wake up and start editing its comments like GS does... so what if there's millions of comments being posted everyday? Employ more people to edit them and keep an eye on them... we need more jobs in the time of recession anyways...

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

^good read :k:
i know people will never stop, its just better to focus on other things.

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

Youtube and facebook are wildly popular here in US and actually all western countries...so its a loss more to the people of Pakistan than it is to facebook and youtube. I doubt that those companies will hurt much over it.

As far as the ban...you conspiracy theorists must be loving this. Just a week or so ago, there was a report that terrorist types, al-quaeda and taliban were using FB to communicate. That method of comms was shut down. Not a bad tactic - start this "draw theProphet" day and they shut down all on their own!

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

wow, another thought along the same lines...if there were some sort of robo-calling program put into action...I wonder if cell phone networks would shut down too.

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

wikipedia blocked too.

its a completely screwed up approach.

a lot better than death threats.

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

it is a good approach i believe,

^ where have u beeeennnn? :naak:

Publishing caricature of Prphet pbuh is prohibited under the Pakistani law, Pakistani courts are hence the right to block any site that publishes such material.

This happens all the time, all around the world. Porn is available in many countries while many block this content.

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

We should respect laws of the any land whether Pakistan , India or the west.

But the point is even google gives us links to sites that are anti-islam or for that matter anti-any other religion, does that mean we should ban google??

Re: what do you guise think of banning youtube and facebook in pakistan?

Why stop there? These highly popular sites are not even a drop in the ocean as far as offensive content. So you can either shut down all internet and phone communications, maybe even electricity...or you can learn how to live in a multi-cultural, diversified world.
