I think a lot of what is said make sense. Some less than others…
Like that match fixing scenario, I think the poster didnt watch half of the Indian channels when they lose a match. Try it. The poster will find the INDIAN MEDIA more caring and understanding. I bet.
Then there are other things like taking offence and as such. I think its very personal because I have seen both types there.
But to me…
The standing point, the mount Everest, the K2, the pinnacle of Pakistani Mentality is… their collective unwillingness to help their own countrymen.
Yes believe it or not, but its true. So much so that sometimes I refer my own countrymen as mere dogs. Thats not even rhetoric. Dogs are one of a kind, the one that barks on another of its own kith and kin. We pakistanis are somehow true to it in a very peculiar fashion. I have seen it in gulf, in europe, in turkey…everywhere that I have been (or my family’s been) I have found my own kind the most exasperatingly devoured of all human empathy and nationalistic navigation.
Indians, especially the south Indians are a 100 times better in this regard. So as the Egyptians and Syrians and the Europeans. Differences aside, whoever doesnt have a difference of opinion…but unlike Pakistanis they have much more in common than us. And then more…
I believe its because from the very basic level, we are a divided nation. I feel ashamed to say but I for my own humble self am unable to communicate in Pushto, sindi, sirayiki and even proper Punjabi. Schools never made it mandatory to have some collective awareness since the very beginning, and instead we have the Urdu and English school diversions. Slick right!!! Differences had always been with us right down to our grass roots, and with time we have only enhanced them. Some will blame literacy rate, others political structure and what not…but deep down we all know, or should have concluded long time ago, we need to revamp our brotherhood and indirectly our image.
Anyways, its a long, long way for us. Right now in the midst of all turmoil and disasters of various kinds and enormity, I pray that we could grasp the real meaning of the two nation theory, on whose foundations this country was built in the first place, on whose reference my family had to leave everything in India and come to this side of the border more than half a century ago, not because we were detested or dejected, but because we believed in the ideology that the two nation represented. That we will live and die a Muslim, and never be oppressed being a Muslim. That our generations to come will have a better perspective, a better present, a better future. Millions and millions of us gave their lives for something…and that something…is missing.
I hope we could grasp it… before death grasps us
I hope.
