It’s more to do with the respect element, since you wouldn’t call your elders, parents & teachers with their name. The respect that a wife should show to her husband has been emphasized to such an extent that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, If (it was permissible), I would have commanded the wife to bow down to their husband.? (Sunan Tirmidhi; this Hadith has been classified as authentic by Imaam Tirmidhi)

**It’s all about respect. I know the prophet used to have nicknames for his wife. Terms of endearment. Shows love, respect etc. I’d never call my parents, grandparents etc by there names. It’s a similar thing. **

It’s not similar.. Your wording makes it sound like Islamically it’s discouraged to call your husband by his name when it’s not.. Yes, Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and his wives had ‘pet’ names for each other but this was about having a closer and more loving relationship (the equivalent of us using words like ‘sweetheart’) rather than believing the husband shouldn’t be called by his name to show him respect **

Calling or not calling your husband by his first name does NOT correlate with showing respect in terms of Islam, this idea is PURELY CULTURAL..
