A. I would give him a long lecture on what to do with the country. I’m not into politics but I can see that we are behind other developing countries. Most importantly, we need to invest in education.

A. He is much better than Benazir and Nawaz. He is not corrupt and seems to be quite meek. I watched one of his interviews and he make more sense that any of the others. He appears more clear headed.

Q. Do you think Musharraf Qualifies as a real liberal or is he a hypocrite?

A. The impression is that he is a liberal even though he has not delivered as yet. But he seems to be on the right track.

A. He is more appealing as a person. Benazir was all talk. Nawaz had really bad grammar. For the head of state, it is really important to have correct grammar and a sense of humor.

A. So far, he seems to be a liberal. There aren’t any unnecessary rules, there are no dupatta[hidden] policies and he comes from a progressive family.

A. I abhor politics. It is basically because of my father that I have such distaste for everyone in politics. When I hear the word “Politician” I grit my teeth. I find all of them extremely unappealing in general and this is not about Musharraf in particular.

A. I’d ask him if there is any way of cutting money on the people instead. The taxpayer’s money should be turned over and used for their own benefit. It can go towards providing basic amenities and education instead of more ammunition.

A. Only time will tell. Everyone comes with a bag of goodies. The difference is that he has absolute power and can do whatever he wants. There are no assemblies that he has to go through. If he says that everyone has to wear a dhoti to work then everyone will. He must do something for women; they have always been relegated to the back seat.

Q. Do you think Musharraf qualifies as a real liberal or is he a hypocrite?

A. We have to wait for an answer to this one. It would depend on the legislation regarding women that is passed during his tenure. If he oppresses us further then he is certainly a hypocrite, especially when he is educated and the women in his own family are progressive.

A. I am extremely hopeful. He is our last resort. So, I can only think positively. But he is certainly making more of an effort. As for Benazir and Nawaz, the less said the better. Previously, the fashion industry went downhill. Today the censors are more relaxed and there are more (fashion) shows. So he is a messiah for us.

A. He is a liberal. But things can’t change suddenly and he needs more time. And if he stops all this prohibition, that’ll be great.

Musharraf may be good for the Country as a Republic, but not as an Islamic Republic.

Time will tell though, perhaps he is all we need for now to bring it back on track, and then later a more islamic leader.

I ABSOLUTELY dont like his decisions to betray the afghans on the whim. He`ll have lots to answer to on the final day.
