Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

we have ramadan practically daily at our house, so there is no special month for it. since the babies came, we woke and slept as in a trance. it's a bit better now they're older, but we still have to get up in the middle of the night for feedings. so, there's sahaer right there, mayne a glass of water, milk, whatever. time is of no matter, it's whenever they feel hungry. could be 2am, could be 7. of course, if it's 7, we just have breakfast (cereal, sometimes breakfast potatoes) and get down to the day's work. for supper, i.e. iftaar, I pick up a Big Mac or maybe chinese and eat it on the way home. Wife usually has nothing coz she's too busy handling the babies. Then we jointly feed the babies, diaper, change, and go out for dinner, nowadays its mostly pizza from the hut or giordanos, but it could be anything really, depending on the mood. Never mexican or african food though, we both don't like those. During the day, if either of us is hungry and time allows, we snack on some nutrigrain bars or whatever, nothing major, a sip of H20 maybe. So that's our fast. Interesting that people have pakoras tikkas etc. I couldn't afford that kinda time. the first few days of ramadan here, the wife switched on a Quran CD for a bit. said it helped with the "atmosphere" and to kinda get the children introduced to the practice of religion. don't know if she's still doing it though.

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

Reincarnation that sounds awfully hectic.

for sehri i had a slice of bread with an omlette and tea and some pheni's with warm milk.

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

Reincarnated - How old are your babies? It sounds like you have twins.

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

femme fatale, yes it is. ruksarbibi, 21 months

an aside, which are the better grocery/meat stores to go to in NYC?

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

isn’t pulki roti? Thas wat my mom always called it, roti/pulki or paratha..

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

Theres plenty of halal butcher/grocery shops in Jackson Heights (queens), Coney island/Midwood (brooklyn) and in the Bronx..

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

It wasn't quite iftaari, but I had Popeyes chicken (chicken sandwich, shirmps, biscuits, and pop). For the record, the chains in Toronto serve meat purchased from Muslim butchers/stores.

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

^^ Popeyes in Toronto rcks. Tastes sooooo good.

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

It sure does! Luckily, I've got about 3 close by. One is less than 10 mins away. The second one is about 15 minutes away, whereas the third one is 20-30 mins away.

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

Stop it :bummer:

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

I think I misspelled it. We call them “phulkees” – pakoray are the same think, I think. You know, stuff dipped in the besan mixture and deep=fried.

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri

^^and added to yogurt etc. Plus chaat masala, plus onions, tomatoes
if you want. Right?

Re: What did you have for Iftaari/Sehri
