so we all know we need some sort of support under our wedding outfit, be it a lehnga or gharara or sharara or dress. what did you wear under your outfit besides the obvious undergarments? a girdle? a corset? masking tape :P? please share how you coped and what you would recommend or not recommend wearing and doing!
Re: What did/will you wear under your lehnga/gharara?
i wore a one-piece bathing suit style support thingie that just pulled me in nicely and smoothed out me curves. it was perfect and the kameez draped all the better for it, as far as i'm concerned. it was a bit pricey at about $130 but it did provide the finishing for the outfit.
if you go to a specialty lingerie store, they can fit you for it. it goes by bra size.
i have a bit of a tummy and love handles so i went to victorias secret and bought a white corset......they're usually really pricey but i bought it for 30 bucks.....it was on sale :) it has three hooks in the back so u can leave it loose, semi loose or tight and it sucks in the bulge!!!
Re: What did/will you wear under your lehnga/gharara?
I didn’t wear anything additional.
What I do advise is not to wear white. A lot of time, colour leaks from the fabric, especially if you are wearing a red lengha since the fabric is usually dyed. It will rub off onto your expensive white undergarments and you will kick yourself for wearing white forever.
Re: What did/will you wear under your lehnga/gharara?
sgc- was yours the stretchy nylon/polyester type? almost like a a leotard, but with more coverage for the thighs and rear?
marena- i just went to VS during my lunch break and saw some corsets that were 50%! they provide coverage for your upper body (which is good!), but the piping thing down the sides seemed uncomfortable to wear for 6+ hours. also, they had those clips on the bottom for stockings? forgive me for being naive, but can you wear it without having to use the clips?
Re: What did/will you wear under your lehnga/gharara?
some people go for corsets, i think i would find it too uncomfortable with the boning and all that. and otherwise, they work for some people but i don't like the shape they give me under asian clothes.
i like what sgc wore. i would probably go for a really good bra that gives a nice shape under the blouse and control pants.. i don't want no tummy bulge appearing after i have had anything to eat or drink!
as for masking tape - boob tape might be a good idea to keep your neckline in place! cleavage is so unclassy.
mine also had proper cups so thats why i was sized according to my bra size. if anyone is in toronto, go visit sophia’s on the danforth- they are AMAZING and they’ve been fitting women for underwear for so long- she told me in literally 5 seconds flat that i was wearing the wrong bra size. doh.
back to the shapewear, it had a bra-like neckline in the front and the back was a low square. i’ve worn it a lot under dresses and other desi clothes since then and its just a nice smooth finish… you know, until i acquire my supermodel body which is, sadly, taking longer than anticipated

hi sgc, r u talking about a Bustier? cuz i'm thinking too wat to wear on my wedding day, but i'm not very sure about this type of full coverage brief as they just press ur upper body & then it just look flat not curvy, so i'm not sure if it will look good or not, since there shouldbe niice shape, i was thinking abt wearing a long corset which is from upper waist to lower legs/thighs, can any1 tell me which one looks better, the full coverage or just a medium corset?

That depends on your body shape...some people need the full coverage b/c they want to have a clean shape through out their body...but if you are confident in you upper body shape then you do not need all that.
