What culture / country ..

.. are you most intrigued with , when it comes to food?

I get very intrigued with Desi ( india , pakistan ) food … and the second strong inflence comes with Italian food … I get so inspired and influenced by those two cultures .. that I try to eat out at different places offering desi or Italian food .. and then try to make them at home :hinna: … I have even collected tonns of spices that could be possibly used in both the cuisines :@: … freaky much?

Re: What culture / country ..

Desi food rocks, hands down!

Thai food is also very intriguing...their curries are so yummy!

I think because of where I live...I am tired of Italian food. I like pasta but its no longer my first choice.

Re: What culture / country ..

Yeah I guess that happens with time Reha .. I used to be in love with Arabic food .. but eventually got over my fixation with it ! since the last few years , I keep getting shocked at the variety of food that the desi culture has ... I mean every now and then I keep coming across new stuff !

Re: What culture / country ..

Iranian/medditr./south indian

Re: What culture / country ..

I think Persian food is also amazing

Re: What culture / country ..

I love desi food....and I love Italian food (especially pasta) and Chinese food....more recently, Thai food.

But I'm intrigued by or curious about French cuisine.

Re: What culture / country ..

Just curious - other than having more vegetarian fare, how is Indian (North Indian) food different from Pakistani food ?

Re: What culture / country ..

It is very similar..but still a regular eater(if that would be the right word :)) of both can tell the difference.

Re: What culture / country ..

Intrigued as in like to eat it, or variety of it, or what they could eat.

I am honestly intrigued by the cuisines of far east. ts just amazing what these people could eat without any inhibitions.

Re: What culture / country ..

when you go from north to south, and even east to west in India, food changes dramatically. Same with Pakistan. Yes you can find similarities in Indian and Pakistani food, but try to find similarity in food of Peshawar vs food of Banglore and you would be comparing apples and oranges.

Re: What culture / country ..

I guess I should have been more clear - I meant food available commonly in Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the west. I am sure there would be a big difference between South Indian cuisine and that of NWFP/Balochistan for example, but I dont think thats what is commonly available in the name of Indian/Pakistani food in the west.

Re: What culture / country ..

Because desi restaurants of west caters to more diverse customer base, they have to come up with a unified menu if you may. What is comonly available in India/Pakistani restaurant is North Indian/Punjabi food which is a good mix of food from different cultures.
