What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

I would say in real man's dictionary, the word cheating does not exist. To understand the meaning of the word and to avoid getting tortured, the real man must consult real woman's dictionary before he takes a step involving any other woman.

What is emotional cheating?

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

^ Being married to one but in love with another.

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

^^ But that is physical cheating too...

No one can control his/her emotions? like i really loved Aishwariya Rai, but when she got married i dumped her.. now can you call that a cheating

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

No hanibal, what you went through was infatuation...or a mild crush. You couldnt possibly love Aishwariya Rai because you dont know her.

What Im talking about is being married to someone but having thoughts about another woman...not being in love with your own partner.

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

^^ So you are saying having mild crush on somebody you really don't know cannot be classified as emotional cheating.

But if you love somebody the same way you love or u suppose to love your spouse, then its cheating...

What about just having strong feeling/ thoughts about someone, is that emotional cheating too?

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

Okay, just to clarify:

The love you have for your spouse is ONLY meant for your spouse. If that love is being directed towards another individual...its cheating.

What is cheating? Depriving someone of what they're entitled to.

Crushes on Richard Gere dont count because its all just drama and hype...nothing more then that.

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

OK now that the definition is clear.

Just passing some comments here and there, sending some emails here and there.. can it be considered cheating.

As the chances are that it is not going to be more than that...

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

Good question.

The comments, emails and such should be directed to his wife, right? If the man is single, I can understand a little bit. But if you have someone...what is the need for it? Doesnt it look odd?

And how do we know the chances? Most affairs start out as a few emails, lunches, phone calls and before you know it...

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

So there is this hypothetical question, if someone senses (or actually find out) that his/her respective spouse is initiating an affair, is it already too late or things can be salvaged by stopping him/her?

As most of the affairs start at office place... the man normally, tells her wife that he need to go to the business dinner or a trip with the fellow female colleague(s), and then what? wife knows where u are, who is with u and before you know it...

So what do u recommend to avoid these kind of situation?

Are you are saying that, man should not mingle with any of their female associates/colleagues.

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

Emotional cheating is not being in love with someone else. It is being emotionally attached to someone; telling them your secrets; you think u r more connected to this individual than u r to ur spouse. You want to speak with them all the time and perhaps even share intimate secrets, talk about ur problems and issues rather than speaking with ur spouse because u feel the other person will understand u more and empathize.

It sounds more like what many ladies do anyway.

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

Definition of cheating will vary widely - depending on whether you are conservative, open minded, secure or insecure, or a plain swinger.

However IMO - In normal circumstances, once in a committed relationship, any emotional/intimate/physical interest in a member of the opposite sex (and in some cases, same sex) would qualify for cheating. My idea/guage is, dont poke where you wont like your partner to be poking.

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

An example of emotional cheating would be being committed to a person, but that person starts spending time with another person and gets emotionally attached with that other person....slowly falling in love...etc...even if its lust....its wrong.

Let me ask the question again and hopefully people will understand it better: what is cheating to a man when it comes to his female partner? So, we’re not talking about what men do/don’t do being counted as cheating - more like the other way around - what do men think women do that would make them cheaters! Now, speak up gentlemen. :chai:

Re: What Constitutes "Cheating" In a Committed Relationship?

They always have different name for it.

PM - lol you always crack me up!Dude, I am serious, clarify a man's definition of cheating for his spouse. Please.
