I think i mentioned it before but the awesome talent in Pakistan when it comes to drama serials and singing is boundless. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was in the guiness world records for the largest number of albums produced by Qawwali albums- a total of 125 albums. He is respected world over and known world over. And Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and many other singers continue the tradition of great Pakistani singers. My fav tv serial is Zindagi Gulzar hai and my parents think it is their fav also. I also remember Ranbir Kapoor mentioning that when he was young his parents and him used to watch Pakistani dramas and plays.

I want to use this opportunity to call all contributors to praise and explore reasons to be proud of Pakistan … I want to see how we can build on what we have - but we need to have a good idea of what we have … so get thinking …

I like the culture and food and the fact that we have preserved our history where we can …

People:
This land has produced many great people. People like Abdul Sattar Edhi, Ansar Barni etc. who have done wonders for humanity.
Great minds like Dr. Abdus Salam who was not just brilliant but also a true Pakistani. never forsaken his Pakistani identity…
Great sportsmen like Jehangir Khan, Jansher Khan, Shahbaz sr. (hockey) who left indelible impressions in their own areas of sport.
So this land is definitely very fertile in this aspect. We just need to exploit this point and build on it.

baap kama kama kar bachon ko jo muntaqil karta hai, bache uss ko kharch karte huwe ye nahin sochte ke wo kaise kamaya gaya tha. Pakistan hamare baRe burigon ne kamaya tha, lekin aaj ki na-shukri nasl jo uss mulk se kha rahi hai, iss mulk ki waja se kha rahi hai, usko koi ihsas nahin.

I am so sick and tired of this bull**** talk of how great nation we are. Its just that “bary bary batain”. Nothing in real. Pakistan I know is a nation of hypocrites. They just talk the talk, no one walks the walk or even try. Same goes for religion, bus bathay batain kartey rahain ge. o jee hamarey sahaba yeh thay, o jee flaney ne yeh keha or flan ne ye fermaya. Bus batain, us se agey kuch nai. Sarey molvi beth k bus batain kertay hain, mulk bhar main chala gya, deen sary duniya main badnam ho gya or yeh bethay hain hath pe hath rukh k.

Lafanter you are so right about Leaders talking the talk but not acting on what they preach!

I have seen many speech makers that can “hush” the audience, it seems they simply have this knack and beyond that they are lost when it comes to getting things done…

And please stop with the “molvi” bashing… they’ve never been in power so they can only have so much negative impact on the country as a whole… we’ve had 60 years of secular/ dictator government so I think they’re primarily responsible for our messed up state.

You are confusing Power with Government. True that none of the islamic political parties have won elections with majority, but Mullah mindedness is definitely very powerful and bears a very strong hold on illiterate pakistanis (which we have plenty of).

While introducing my country at a summer school recently, I highlighted three things about it:

1. We have the largest glaciers outside the polar regions, for which northern areas of pakistan are also sometimes called the third pole of the world. 5 of the world’s top 14 mountain peaks are in pakistan.
2. Dr Abdus Salaam predicted the Higgs Bosson particles around four decades ago and was awarded the Nobel prize for it.
3. Jahangir khan won 555 matches on a trot and was completely unbeaten for five years. This is a feat unmatched by any athlete in any international sport.
   Among these, personally Jahangir Khan inspires me the most. I hope to make a documentary on him some day.
