What Being Muslim (or not) Means to You?

I remember as a child, the Ahmadi in me would anticipate life with fear and infirmity. It still does.

I believed then, nations and individuals, Ahmadis or not, are being judged by their common creator. That is still my belief.

I still believe that to be an Ahmadi Muslim today means what it meant yesterday. Naturally, I claim total affinity with my people and our destiny. Ahmadiyat integrates unconfused propensity with universal values, fervor with harshness, attitude with judicature. Being Ahmadi to me is to reject all fanaticism anywhere.

It also means to me to shield memory and open gates to the jubilation of life as well as the suffering, and the trials of misfortune that are our legacy as Ahmadis.

To me, an Ahmadi must be sensitive to the suffering of all human beings.

To me being an Ahmadi Muslim means a lot.

I think u should get things straight!!

First of all Ahmedis are not Muslims!!
How can a person be a Muslim if he does not believe that Muhammad (SAS) is the Last Messenger!!

Dr Who. You are entitled to your opinion. But let’s hear what being Muslim means to you.

The Basic belief of A Muslim is:
There is no God but Allah And Muhammed is his Last Messenger, if someone does not believe in this, how can he be a Muslim

Dr Whoever. Can’t you write a couple of paragraphs telling us what being Muslim means to you? Is that too much to ask? I didn’t ask about your “belief”. The question is how have those “beliefs” have affected your life.

In my opinion,

Ahmedis are one of the most unfortunate people in the world. How ignorant could someone be? When Quran said that Mohammed (PBUH) is Khatumannabbyeen ( last Prophet of Allah), is there still a reason to disbelief.
Ignoring a word from Quran means ignoring the entire Quran. What is the use of your ammaals, if you still be heading to hell fire.
Let me ask you something. Do you need a prophet after Mohammed (PBUH). The answer is no. Because if one follows Quran and Sunnah, he has all the knowledge and wisdom he needs to succeed in this life and in hereafter.
May Allah guide us all.

And in response to your original question, what it means to be a muslim? It means to be the best among people of any other beliefs including urs.

I have always seen people discussing this topic on Gupshup, and I have concluded that its useless, cause some people cant get the simplest of things into their thick heads...
Allah has said that he has put curtains on the eyes and ears of those, who do not come on the right path. They inspite of being told what is right continiously ignore the truth.

My job was to persuade you to come on the right path, now its between Allah and you!!

May Allah guide you on the right path..
Ameen

Guys, this post is about us(muslims) not Ahmedies. Please answer the post, and not try to define the topic that has already been defined. Its, true Ahmadies are not Muslims.
Islam is truly a beautiful and noble religion. Despite all of the bad press given to Islam and to Muslims in general, it has managed to flourish and gain followers for almost 15 centuries. Islam is, in a few short words, my life. Allah is the driving force in my life. Without Allah, I am nothing. Without Allah, I am of less significance than a single atom.

Bye.

What do you mean by "best"? Do you mean

  • most trustworthy
  • most helpful
  • most friendly
  • most courteous
  • kindest
  • most cheerful
  • most reverent

perhaps you mean

  • best closed minded thinkers
  • best hellfire gurus
  • best inner peace through cultural elitism

I dont know what kind of a message you are trying to convey, but next time first give a thought before you say something. Islam teaches the most idealistic way of life. You know it, I know it and everyone knows it!!

You don't get around much, do you?

Fine!!
What does your religion teach huh!!
Raping inocent women, killing young men, burning the entire village at a time....
Like what is being done in Kashmir presently.

Now dont say that Pakistan is promoting terrorism, cause it's the people of Kashmir who are fighting. People from Azad KAshmir have much more right on there homeland than u Indians!!!

This forum was created for discussing Islamic matters. U Hindus have no right to post anything on this forum.
I dont gain anysort of pleasure from abusing other religions.

Islam teaches us to respect other religions.

remember bangladesh, treatment of balooch and sindhi insurgency in pakland. in fact alleged deaths in kashmir in 10 years are not even 1/20th of what pak army accomplished in bengal in 9 months. remember killing of 200+ unarmed sindhi protestors in 80's. remember sending 3 regiments to crush balooch. take care.

Both of you just answer the question or otherwise shut the ^%#$ up.

the question never asked what being Muslims, Ahmadies mean to you...read it again Dr.who.

Friends. Please let’s not turn this into a political discussion. Please share with us what “Being a Muslim/Hindu/Sikh/Christian/Jew/Buddhist/etc. Means to You”

By the way of your reaction here some will get the feeling that being XXX means being critical of other’s belief system. Does that what being part of your religion mean to you?

Who cares about the question minime. I was just setting things straight, until some people came in and gave the issue another turn.

By the way, what's the quest. minime??

Im a bit confused NY, I know Ahmadis believe in God, but aren't you an atheist?, I thought you were 'Ahmadi' by name only. Seems you are pretty devoted to it from your above post.. , wish to clarify?

Anyways... this is a very interesting topic, many muslims concentrate on the belief so much but don't really think about the practice and deeds and so on which the belief has affected.

Ok, aside from the basic muslim beliefs, pillars and religious practices (which we always talk about) , I can go on and on on what it means to me. I think the main factors which come to mind is that being a muslim and knowing Allah is with me, it has made me stronger! fighting injustice in the world, saying the truth, helping people with my income. Earning LAWFUL income, staying away from sinful acts. Not afraid of taking on any task. It influences me in such a way that I am not afraid. If I am confronted, I know Allah is protecting me, if I am giving a large amount of money to help my brother, I know Allah will provide me more. I think what it means to be a muslim practically is what a 'MUJAHID' does. Makes sacrifices for Islam, serving humanity, not afraid of losing anything and having that confidence and being thankful for everything you have. And so on and so fourth.

Now, as far as ahmadis go, I have seen so much hatred among our people for Ahmadis, I mean ok, hate the belief, hate the teachings, but why do we hate human beings for no genuine reason? see what I am getting at is, I see too many Pakistanis hating each other , If you have to hate someone so much, why not the enemy? Why your own countrymen?

I sometimes see someone hating the ahmadi so much, at the same time, talking nicely with the christain gora guy? for what?
The christian guy says Jesus (A.S.) is the son of God, Do the Ahmadis say something worse then this?

This is another thing which being a muslim means to me, is to not hate unless there is a genuine reason to hate. Through our good deeds, decent behaviour, and unity, I truly do believe all Muslims and ISLAM one day will be guided right under one Flag and merge into the one true belief spanning and ruling the entire world!(like it once was) with all the misconceptions, misguidance and differences perished and eliminated!. Its in the Quran, with Allah's power, so one day it has to happen. Lets work towards it shall we???

Salaam

Ok, I can answer this one, being an etc. I am entiteld to many Straight lines, several truths, atleast a dozen of havens and less number of hell.

Being an etc. I have the privlege to leave blank the religion question in every form I have been given.

Being an etc. I am known as a human being first and last, and I am proud of being one.

It’s not right or wrong
Its different ...and
Different is hard to admit.

Before becoming Muslim, Ahamidy,Hindu or any body

Become HUMAN first, behave like a human

and doesn't matter which religion you belong
to.

Religion is nothing but networking of the people os same way of thing for mutual benefit.
