One of the biggest problems in Pakistan if not the biggest problem is corruption. Corruption is holding the country back in all fields ie education, health, transport. If a government department has been allocated a budget ie the education department and the ministers, bureaucrats and other officials are all corrupt what % of that money will end up serving its purpose? If there was no corruption then more people would be educated, the healthcare system would be better, transport and communications would be improved etc. The lack of corruption would solve many problems and bridge the poverty gap. It is funds that could improve the quality of life for the poor yet it is misused by people who are at the richr end of soceity.
When we have good honest leaders who are just then all the other problems would decrease.

To me, Education is TOP as it brings awareness. Awareness of whats right and whats wrong. If nothing else, awareness to constitute an evaluated and calculated opinion instead of being life-time-ghulam of someone. Once people have that awareness, they will take care of people in 2nd point anyway.

Remove the corrupt system we have today fully not in bit part. Once this done you can begin to solve all other problem from education to economy to america trying to destroy us and everything else.

This could be a New thread but it is indicative of what is happening right now:
"Yesterday the giant Nasdaq screen in Times Square was offered to Pakistan from 5 6 p.m., a peak traffic time, to project a message to collect donations for flood relief. This is the first time any country has been offered this facility. Even Haiti was not given this favour after their earthquake.
The giant Times Square Nasdaq screen is one of the most high profile, highly visible and expensive advertising mediums known.
NASDAQ estimated that Pakistan could collected at least a million US Dollars by using this unique advertising facility.
And now the shocking part. The embassy sent images of Benazir and the consul general in New York which were flashed on the giant screen with no message about the floods. Puzzled people watched this giant image of this brown guy in a suit and wondered what he was doing on the screen.
And a golden opportunity to collect valuable donations and to project the plight of the flood victims was sacrificed at the alter of some embassy minion’s sycophancy. And in the bargain our dignity and respect.
The tragedy is that all relevant flood images were available with the embassy in New York as our foreign Minister had just recently made a presentation of the same there.
NASDAQ withdrew this privilege shortly after, saying they were fools to let Pakistan have this opportunity.
Someone should investigate this shocking event and heads should roll.

I call it Inaptitude! or may be simply grabbing the 15 minutes of fame for oneself instead of showing the faces of the victims of this disaster!
