Diamond321, it is not as simple as that. even if Zardari quits, Pakistan’s problems will not magically disappear. just as they did not when musharaf was forced to resign after demands for his ouster reached a crescendo. i can see where people are coming from when they blame one person so much; in times of crisis, and the country has been going through such a crisis; we often need a boogeyman to reduce our negative feelings of anxiety, fear, guilt etc bubbling inside us. the problem is finding boogeyman does not solve problems. people do.

is it really plausible that after zardari quits the country’s economy will improve enough to help the most vulnerable? or that the rich will start paying taxes? or that terrorism will cease just because zardari is no more the president? or that the country’s capacity to produce electricity will increase?

unfortunately i don’t think it is.

goodname I agree it’s not so simple ! But if he is gone then probably (hopefully) funds can be used for things they are meant to be rather than being end up in Mr 10%'s pocket. Musharaff brought us out of the IMF debts and the first thing this guy did was to take loans again from IMF …result no more subsidies on petrol , food items , electricity etc. Infact these things are made more expensive. He and his MPAs are spending so much of Pakistan’s money on their luxuries , they are living a lavish life at the expense of country’s money. The inflation here is crazy , I am 29 years old and never in my life I have seen such a high inflation , things were even not so bad during Benazir’s time. There are so so many other problems that Pakistan is facing right now.

Zardari , Nawaz Sharif & these maulanas …all politicians are ek hi thali kay chatay batay but I think Zardari is the worse. Pakistan does not need any of them. Pakistan need someone like Musharraf again. He was not sin free either …no one can forget lal masjid , the issues with chief justice etc but he is also did alot of good things for Pakistan. I remember during Musharaf’s regime some families were easily surviving on Rs 3000 a month and now this is IMPOSSIBLE . You can not even survive at RS 10,000 a month now.
