Always been curious about this. I know you’re just as cricket-crazy as we are :D, but what are the other sports, other than cricket, that are played widely, or enjoy a wide fan-following in Pakistan?
Classify them as:
Outdoor sports: Cricket, rugby, football.
Indoor sports: badminton, table tennis.
Martial Arts: such as wrestling, Kushti.
Recreational Sports: swimming and the like.
In India, cricket is still number one, two, and three. But football enjoys a wide fan following and is numero uno in several states like Goa and places like Kolkatta. It is also catching on bigtime in several other places, especially in the cities. Hockey witnesses fluctuating fortunes, with the team’s equally fluctuating fortunes, and Kabbadi, who can forget kabbadi? :D.
Martial arts include Karate and Taekwondo- which about every street corner in the metropolises these days is starting to have; Judo and Boxing- which is starting to catch on pretty big. Also Jiu Jitsu, which some Brazilian immigrants have brought to places like Delhi and Bangalore.
So what are the most-followed, most-watched, fav sports in Pakistan, after cricket? And is there potential for friendly matches between the two countries.
Re: What are the most popular sports in Pak, other than cricket?
Other than Cricket
Indoor: Squash
Outdoor: Field Hockey. (Happens to be the national sport of Pak)
Snooker, tennis, wrestling, football is quiet widely played and popular too.
Edit: Missed the last Question. There is high scope for us neighbors to play in various sports but until and unless both our governments lay down their guard, ego and accusations, I doubt that is going to be happening on a frequent basis anytime soon.

Loodoo LOL!
Loved that as a kid :D
We used to play it as a family too, good fun!
I my wife and my daughter still play it here in US. We got three different kinds of Loodo from Pakistan. My daughter loves to play it with mom and dad.

Thank you for that ChunkyMonkey.
Second Question: What is the potential for a sport like Muay Thai or kickboxing in a country like Pak?
Are there dedicated facilities in cities like Karachi or lahore where people get trained?
The reason I ask is that: I'm seriously looking into galvanizing the sport in the subcontinent.
If not, how about some more 'sobre' sports like karate or taekwondo? Is there a big fan following for things like these? Or perhaps some indigenous forms of martial arts in the Pukhtoon areas as they have in South India?
Re: What are the most popular sports in Pak, other than cricket?
I'm an ex-MMA athlete. I still got some battle-marks, a broken nose, bruised ribs and all will leave memories :) I would love to see some Pakistanis involved in the MMA scene.

Oh its like another form of Boxing i think
wow really thats great ...means v got a member is a MMA Fighter
Its not just boxing. MMA = Mixed Martial Arts. Therefore you really need to be up to date with most styles of fighting.
Haha you flatter me bruh, I'm just an amateur. I trained in Ju Jitsu, Taekwondo and Boxing mostly and have always had a good Wrestling base throughout school/college. So it was helpful.

Re: What are the most popular sports in Pak, other than cricket?
Ah I'm afraid not. I've been out of the sport for almost one year now. I should get back to the gym though, its one helluva workout! I'm in Dubai now so I'm going to start exploring a couple of the MMA gyms we have, maybe find something that works for me.
