i am going on holiday soon so was thinking what are must buys from dubai ( clothes / make-up) ? going from uk.
Heard there is sephora in Dubai Mall so kind of excited for that

If you have someone to stitch or send them to Pakistan, the fabric is good also saris. Even some readymade desi clothes may be cheaper than the UK. I wouldn't waste luggage allowance on make up unless you don't have a Sephora in UK.

Keep in mind the prices in Dubai will be double, sometimes triple...don't k ow that it's really worth it to buy anything there if you live in UK .

I found Dubai to be cheaper than the UK in many aspects, cheaper than Karachi even for some stuff.

Really? My sister has lived in Dubai for the past 13 years and she doesn't buy a single thing there. She does all her shopping when she comes back to US during her yearly visits. Especially on makeup...prices are alot higher at the sephora in Dubai compared to here. And whenever I go to Dubai I've found it extremely expensive too. The only time ill shop there is during the Shopping Festival in jan-feb...I got some good deals on crepe saris and some artificial jewelry, but that's about it. This is the first time I'm hearing anyone say prices are cheaper in Dubai.

The US is cheaper yes, but the UK is very expensive. I went to Dubai from Karachi and stocked up on fabric, body sprays, purses etc. I bought a nightgown for about Rs 3000 there and found the same night gown in the same color in Karachi atTtariq Road for 8000. I visited UK before that and found it more expensive (I was born in the Uk but moved back to Pakistan as a child). But if the choice is between US and Dubai then def USA.

Sephora prices are crazy! Cosmetics are def cheaper in the US/UK.. I've bought make-up from all over and it's true Dubai is VERY expensive compared to make-up prices in the US/UK.

I didn't find anything cheaper in Dubai in the malls at least. Not makeup, not clothes, accessories nada... I live in the UK.

UK is very reasonable in regards to clothing , make up everything, my bhabi went to UK came back to Dubai and she was shocked it was triple the prices from UK same brands, GAP, Debenhams and marks n spencers, Dubai is good for eating

Can someone living in dubai please also confirm if there are any set of non-stick T-fal cooking pots (degchaaz) available? I remember my parents used to buy theirs in Saudia Arabia; you know the red sized big one's with lids? here in north america it's really hard to find a big size non-stick pot for cooking. Any recommendations?

Even eating-out is expensive da! Yes, non-stick Tefal pots and pans are easily available. Apple Blossom and I studied the price differences in GREAT depth and compared all the prices when I got back from the US. Dubai is atleast 2x more expensive.

^ completely agree Gina! My sister and I do the same everytime she comes here and it’s down right shocking how much more expensive things are in Dubai. From an eyeliner to a Gucci bag, the exact sime item is double, sometimes triple in DXB

I can give the example of my own experience only. Make up I would not recommend if someone is going from a western country. However, if someone is going from Pakistan then the make up is a must buy. However, clothing prices are good for desi clothes mostly not branded clothes. I haven’t seen any reasonable sales on branded western wear. The place is fab for desi fabric really. I bought velvet and silk for a much cheaper price than could be had in Pakistan and these are still going strong. Some Georgette I bought was Rs 28 per yard, yes, it happened some years ago but I could never find anything that cheap in Pakistan ever and I still have that outfit.
