What age is appropriate for dating?

Okay, so I know in Islam dating is a no-no. However, I have heard some - not a lot - parents say they wouldnt mind their children dating.

Would you allow your child to date and if so…when?

yeh no younger than 21 for sure I'd say and maybe 22 or 23 is a good age to start, you should have about completely university and matured significantly.

Nope.

But when they are ready for marriage (after completing at least a bachelors) they may begin to meet potential spouses unchaperoned.

my husband and I had a discussion about this already and we decided on that we would allow it after 21, boy or girl! 1st step woud be talking about brith control though!

Isn't 'after finishing uni' a bit optimistic?

I'd imagine after they've begun uni would be more realistic.. Esp if they're living away from home I'd assume they'd be more likely dating than not..

For Muslim parents who are okay with their children dating, where then do you draw the limits? They can date, but can they hold hands? Can they kiss? Can they drink on their dates? Can they sleep together? Can they have a child before marriage? Can they live together? Can they date people who arent Muslims? Can they date just for fun or only serious marriage prospects? Dont you think its such a slippery slope
