And to me I can take any hot day over the cold cold popscicle making chicago winters…they suck bigggg time…I mean I remember my ears almost falling off with the cold…
Worst thing is u have to bundle the kids like with tons of clothes…buckle em up in the car seat…and then when u reach the destination…take the polar bears and then unbuckle em, take off the layers so that they can breathe…
Poor kids and on top of that poor parents too…

1. yeah cold is bad, i think extreme temperature of any type is bad. However with cold you can add a few layers, when its boiling like it is in Dallas, there is only so much you can take off.

2. the whole strapping in car seats business is true for anywhere. and I dunno how many layers you are talking about. one of those heavy duty, gap overalls and jacket with a hood works, takes a minute to put on and a minute to take off. not a bad price for living in a real city.

And the housing market ,u know Dallas has so much more to offer…

dallas has cheap housing, if you have the money you can buy anything anywhere. so people bring in examples of plano and what nots. and forget that Chicago has places like Barrington, and lake forest, and bannockburn etc.

so yep, if its cheap housing that is a consideration, dallas scores way above chicago, however, po dunk ville, mississipi may be cheaper than dallas

and as for the universities…Oh here is the list
SMU..Southern Methodist University…One of the best Universities out there :snooty:
UTD…UNT…UTA…Texas Cristian University,TWU..The list goes on and on…

first of all the list if not of universities in dallas alone, UNT is denton
secondly, please dont compare chicago to dallas in terms of universities.

so here is a really quick analysis of universities in both cities and where they are ranked. and since you went a few hours out of dallas like to UT-austin. i took the liberty of picking some unis that are a few hrs drive from chicago.

so houston is better than dallas, since i believe rice is there, but no uni in dallas comes close to U of chicago or Northwestern, and if we start looking at unis a stone’s throw away, chicago still has better options.

       And did I again mention that the real estate market is sooo good..the brickless..supposedly beautiful Chicago homes r in texas..well mostly bare down minimum here.

Okay now I am done with the pro DFW thing..other then its a perfect place to raise a family…after then I am moving to California:D..where I’ll bring my own home there…:D:D

ahhh so its just a temporary stop on the way to a real place like california That I can understand. If I have a choice and I have t leave chicago, I would go to NYC, MD-VA, BAY Area, LA, etc.
