Wet Bathroom floor..

No there isn’t any leak, condensation or anything but everyone spills water while making wudu and sometimes step out of the shower with the wet feet that makes those bathroom rugs wet and they start to smell bad in couple of days.. As a first step, I removed all rugs from the bathroom, I always wipe floor with the towel (designated for floor only everytime I find it wet) but I need a permanent solution to the wet floor..telling everyone not to spill water while making wudu isn’t helping.. is there some kind of material available that absorbs water? if yes, where is it available?

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

Keep a squegee mop in the bathroom.. the type that you don't need a bucket for... That's what i use

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

We have a red bulb in a lamp in each bathroom that we turn on after showers and wudhus.

This dries up the bathroom real fast and feels so clean clean.

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

kS09.. I dont want to do the work anymore :$

Niksik.. really? I have lots of question for this one.. does it make your bathroom very hot in summer? how long do you leave it on? Do you use the rugs as well and do they get dried pretty quickly too?

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

i'm looking for these answers myself, what about a pedestal fan? I don't have much ventilation in my bathroom, so heating it, would be very uncomfortable.

duck boards

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

Really yes.

When we bought our first home, the master bath came with a built in ovehead light like that. You could program it and let it dry out the bathroom. We loved it so much that we now have lamps with the same bulb in our baths here. It takes about 1/2 hour to and hour to dry up the place. The mats get dry as well. Helps take care of the "stale" smell that can set in if the bathrooms are left wet. Try it out. I've got our masjid hooked on to these as well!!

And yes, they can make the bathroom real hot, but leave the door open for some time if that's an issue.

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

wow it sounds great. we have heaters in our bathrooms bt they dont seem to help alot.
we have non slip mats(in different colours) outside shower screen and under the sink. it absorbs all the water and we leave it out to dry.

I wonder if there is anything to do with red colour? Does it take alot of electricity???

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

We personally never had this issue, but I haveb been to houses, where either due to no. of ppl using the washroom or lack of vantilation can cause this issue, airing out the mats frequently would be one of the best solutions IMO, keep an extra set of mats and let the one used during the day be aired out for 24 hours. Everyone who uses the washroom has to make sure that it is kept dry and clean, otherwise it is nearly impossible to keep it dry.

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

I have had the same problem, I like you removed the bath mats as they would get wet and soggy after wudhu. I went on holiday a few years back within the UK, and the hotel we atayed in had Cork bath mats on the bathroom floors. WOW, they are great, I have them in both bathrooms , we even use them after showering to step onto they are great.

Here is a link for the cork mats

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

We have three sets of rugs for each bathroom and change them and wash them once a week. It prevents all those issues you are talking about. When someone makes wudu the water is not that much which will soak them rugs to the point of getting them soaking wet. They will make them a little damp which will dry out in half to one hour on its own. Unless they are making wudu on the floor of the bathroom. Even when someone gets out of the bath tub or shower without getting themselves dry they cannot spill that much water on those rugs to make them soaking wet. Damp may be but not soaking wet.
If you live in a country where it rains a lot and humidity in the air is so much that your bathroom rugs do not dry out in that much time then you need to use one of those dehumidifiers. Good luck.

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

easiest way would be to ask ppl to dry themselves off before getting out of the shower.

as for wudu, mirch has given some good tips.

we have the red bulb in our washroom too but man its stifling hot...its already hot in teh summer and having those turned on .. its horrible. i guess you could turn it on after isha so no one has to do any more wudu, and turn it off before goin to bed.. or turn it on before goin to bed... using the loo with the bulb on is not such a great idea unless its winter :D

it does do a wonderful job drying up the washroom..

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

We've never had that problem.... maybe because we have two separate sinks in our bathroom and its just us two using them. I have these thick plush bathroom mats in front of the sinks which I wash once a month.... they never get the damp smell, Thank God.
As far as shower is concerned, we always dry ourselves with towels before stepping out.
Do you have a lot of people visiting GTG?

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

not spilling water is just not a solution anymore.. I have no idea what my husband does in there but everytime he walks out of the bathroom, I go in with the towel! since this is the only annoying habit he has, I can't ask him to get rid of it.. he got way too many positives Alhamdulillah.. he needs something bad in his record as an evil eye breaker :D

Our apt. is generally warmer during summer and winter so I really don't know if bulb will be the solution for us and turning it on after isha may not be ideal since we usually need it during the day; however, I really like the cork mat idea.. i need to see if we can find it in the US..

Mirch.. we have never done laundry every week so I dunno how can we change and dry it every week.. I can't even let them air dry because we have no sun or air for that matter.. it's cold already!

I will try to find the cork mat and then later invest in the bulb.. lets see which one works better for us!

Thanks for the ideas everyone :)

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

nopse MIA it's just the two of us and I have never have this problem so it's just my husband.. I have no idea how he spills so much water in there.. i mean really you need to be a pro for that amount of water :D

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

:cb: He does sound like a pro.

Do you have a vent fan in the bathroom? Use that a lot, its helps. Or get a dehumidifier for your bathroom, or maybe even a regular fan would do the trick.
Hang towels near the bathtub so he can grab them easily and dry himself before stepping out of the shower/tub.

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

Give him four quarters to take a shower at the car wash.
Ask him to go to Masjid for namaz and make wudu there too. :)

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

If you missed it let me say this again.. I am not asking him to get rid of this habit anymore just because he has to have one bad habit to stay human :p

I wanted a solution for myself not for him but thanks anyway!

I will udpate you all when I use the cork mats only if I find them here!

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

He will not get rid of this bad habit, only the venue will change , he can spill water to his heart's content there. :p

Re: Wet Bathroom floor..

My wife also tells me that I spill too much water during wudu. Infrared heat lamps really works as Niks said.
