1993: COAS Gen. Kakar did not seize power but instead asked both President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to step down following bitter acrimony between the two.
mutiny from within the army will make subsequent coups less likely because then the COAS would think twice before committing treason.
