Talking about Western girls, I have a question.
When a desi guy (living back home) says he wants a "modern girl" for marriage, what does he exactly mean? Modern in terms of being a slut or modern in terms of being more open minded then traditional girls back home.

Oh I was reading this article, and found this interesting:
“Their (desi men) attitude towards marriage is warped. They are caught in between. On one hand they want their wives to be modern, university educated and glamorous; on the other they don’t want their wives to be free and independent”

hes talking about who wears jeans, talks english, acts like a gori, and will try stuff with him in bed. sum1 who wont try to keep him in line. desi guy is not talking about the "modern girl" ur thinking about.

ok why dont we forget about what "desi" guys want in a modern woman and talk about ALL guys....
They want a woman who can earn a 6-figure income, keep the house sparkling, the kiddies all clean and happy, well educated and well-provided with activities. Never tiring, this elusive modern woman is all sexy, fluffed up and perfumed at nite-nite time to take care of the hubby.
Whew! I am SO glad that I am NOt a modern woman!!!

I was reading an article , they interviewed women in top positions, former governors, ceos etc and asked them how did they balance work with family and one woman said something that's been stuck in my head. She said that if you truly love what you're doing (workwise) that makes it so much easier to balance family and career. So I think, if a woman is working for pleasure (and as hard as it is for some to believe, some women do work to enhance themselves and their self esteem/confidence), its easier to balance it. Moral: happy woman makes a happy home :)

Hmmm.... well in that case - I often wear jeans under my abaya, speak English, act like a gori (cause I am one), pray 5 times a day. My hubs and I have a good relationship, and we try to keep each other in line - do you little boys have a nice category to put me in?

Do "most" people prefer Pakistanis, or do they have a say in the matter? I would guess that I'm about 15-20 years older than you, and can safely say that in my experience with both desis and goris, there isn't a lot of difference in the way people behave. You can find whatever you're looking for in just about any ethnicity. Do you have any idea how many different cultures the term "gori" can encompass? By the same token, there are many differences between punjabis, sindhis, etc. Grow up a ltitle and stop stereotyping.

I meant most pakistani's prefer other pakistani's, not a stereotype, just a fact.
