Western dress for friend's wedding

Hi,

I’ve been asked to be one of the bridesmaid at one of my english friend’s wedding. She has said that we can all choose our own dresses. I’ve never worn a westrn dress, they are all strappy and low necked. Can anyone recommend any nice wearble dresses in the UK that I can wear at the wedding? I very curvey so not all skinly dresses would suit me.

Pls help!

Check out monsoon or those kinds of places for long maxis, you can wear a bolero or short jacket on the top to cover your shoulders?

Second the maxis idea^^ just opt for something flowy and long, that way it will sort of skim over your curves rather than hugging you in awkward places.

Thanks girls. Yep, was thinking I would opt for a flowy maxi and get a bolero. Can't see much online even at places like monsoon, hopefully they'll get new stuff coming soon.

Thanks muslimah118, I'm actually liking that dress and another on the mango site but not too find of the colour choices. My friend's been v good and said i can choose my own dress incl. colour. I just want to makesure the dress isn't too clingy (big hips/bakcside syndrome) and also neck isn't too low. The shoulders I can cover with a bolero.

What's your budget and where in the UK do you live?

When is the wedding? Monsoon don't have much at the moment, niether to Debenhams to HOF.

I would actually just check everywhere cos you never know.

Don't get something satin-y like that mango dress then, it will cling a lot.

probably the only one who doesn't like any of the linked... green coast one is okay.

plus completely strapless is still risky even with a bolero. you will see cleavage.

I’ve seen one-shoulder dresses worn elegantly with a matching-coloured long sleeve top (or 3/4 sleeve) underneath. Although really does depend on the dress itself as to whether this will work. Worth a try though as an alternative to a bolero.
