Except the two double centuries in the first test match and Lara’s 2x180+ knocks, WI’s batting line up looks perished in the ongoing series with Saffies. They definetly need inspiration. Their ordinary batting in last two matches gives hopes to our chances of winning matches in Carabeans.

All the recent WI match results are showing a very harsh and struggling bowling statistics
and even with the WI batting figuers are no better than a below average progressive inning/s.
And SA opening pair seems to be in an extra ordinary ease.
Good thing we are Scheduled with WI and not SA

Moin’s hundred might be a bit too late though. Akmal’s innings in the Mohali test sealed his place in the side for a long time to come.

Akhtar will (and should be) picked for WI tour if he is fit and yesterday he seemed alright to me. Good to see Shabbir, Shoaib and Umar Gul back for WI tour. That makes ours a really threatening bowling line up when combined with Sami and Rana. :k:

I would lov to see shoaib akhtar in the side. I thought his performance in the domestic season during the last one month would be good enough to prove his fitness. But I have a feeling that it will not be an easy entry any more for him. It appears that most of the senior players are against him and he is not in the good books of selectors and Sheryar Khan as well. So things are pretty gloomy for him at that stage. But the picture will be clear next monday after the team announcement. It is possible that the assumptions will be wrong and he will be back. But if they don't select him, what will happen to akhtar's future? I don't see any justification of not selecting him except that the team players don't want him in the dressing room as well. If that is the case that I guess it will be good bye for him. He is 30 yrs old and surely doesn't have too much cricket left in him. So will be really difficult for him to get in the good books of the senior players. Whatever the reason is, it would be waste of a tremendous talent for Pakistan due to the incompetence of the PCB.
