Re: were our poets …homosexual?

Well I think that in those days homosexuality was not that common and mehboob was always referred as Muzakkar form . Thats just what I think :hmmm:

Re: were our poets ...homosexual?

^ you dont think that there were more subtle ways available than to directly referring your mehboob as larka, Turk bachche and Mughal-zaade

Re: were our poets …homosexual?

:rotfl: atleast old method of representing love through candle and moth (Shama o Parwana) was more subtle than this Attar ke londay, Turk Bachcha & Mughal Zada.

samjh nahi aai bohat gehri baatein hain :frowning:

Re: were our poets …homosexual?

:fatee: aap Ismat Chughtai ko padh len, shayad kuch samajh aa jaen :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: were our poets …homosexual?

add to that list the analogy of phool and bhanwaraa :stuck_out_tongue:

UZ, what I am saying is that direct reference of gender was not necessary and if poets wanted to, they could’ve easily avoided that instead of talking about a male gender in their poetry.
