Its like sleeping as you sleeping after taken care of a big burden or responsibilty

^So why is a horse such a big burden that you feel so relaxed after selling it off.....why not after selling a donkey...a cow ....an elephant. You get my drift.

I am just curious about the origin of this phrase.
