Weird ones: Chanderpaul. Graham Gooch, Ijaz Ahmad, Taufeeq Umar, Wavell Hinds.
Stylish ones: Allan Lamb, Mark Waugh, Tendulkar,
What do you people think?
I must emphasize that I am not talking about playing styles, just the batting stances.

Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
add Mohammad Kaif in the weird onces.
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
I like Chanderpaul's stance. It's different :D
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
I agree, I hate kaif and his stance, chanderpual stance also is very wierd.
Chris broad was a different one too, had a high backlift.
I think saeed anwar, viv richards, mark waugh had stylish stances. Currently I like dravid and thorpe.
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
Aamir Sohail, I had my heart in my mouth with every ball he faced. Will he get the bat down in time or not? Scary!..
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
I was about to name him. Exactly, that’s what I thought and then the way he would keep on bouncing it in the mid-air was also very weird.
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
shiv and bazid khan definitely have very weird stances + tresco's is similar to graham gooch's in a way. i like michael vaughan's stance.
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
saeed anwar all the way
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
youhana in the stylish ones
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
Chris Broad in stylish ones. The way he would lift his bat in air as bowler get into delivery mode.
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
Srikanth used to stand so his left foot is ahead of his right foot, so the body is basically tilted towards his wicket.
Stylish ones… Mohsin Khan :k:
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
have we forgotten Shoib Mohammad's style of batting... i used to think, he wants all the bowlers to aim at his Butt:D (cuz he used to stand sideways on the pitch), so he could pull those deliveries to midwicket... i have started playing like that as well.. its pretty productive, u get a longer range on your on side and ofside as well.. but ya, its awkward style but as long as its getting runs, its all good...:)
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
new zealand's mathew bell has the stupidest batting stance i have ever seen....
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
Chanderpaul has the ugliest batting stance. Ever. Really.
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
LoL. He had a funny batting style for sure.
I will also agree with people who named Aamir Sohail. He was weirdly aggressive in everything he did.
Mohammad Kaif is not so bad. The only thing I dislike about his stance is the way he hurridely hits his bat on the floor with his bat right before the bowler bowls. But I will agree with armughal. The way Mathew Bell holds his bat is bound to make bowlers want to hit him with the ball ![]()
sophisticated. You reminded me of good old days, Shoaib Mohammad was one of the most boring but an effective opener in all conditions.
Saeed Anwar, Micheal Vaughan, Mohsin Khan: all stylish indeed.
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
Saeed Anwer was classic :k:
& Amir Sohail’s who I copy,
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
Damien Martyn's stance is stylish.
Shoaib Akhtar definitely has one of the weird ones :D
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
ditto… i wonder why people didn’t bowl yorkers to him… (teiz wali)
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
Ijaz ahmad the worst one...
Gower and Zaheer Abass the most sylish one
( both were tall slim and elegant. They used to stand relatively straight with their bats touching the ground very gently. Very poetic style)
Arvinda de Silva most commanding and authoritative one like a warrior
Tendulkar, Gavaskar ( he used to keep his toes few inches higher than the ground) the most composed one
Re: Weird and stylish Batting stances
He wouldn’t have taken that stance if he was so easy to bowl out through quick yorkers. Wasim Akram once said that he always tried to target Graham Gooch with yorkers at the start of his innings, but he would always block them out. A test batsman can’t score runs unless he really knows what he is doing.
