^ I don't think anyone here said someone should wear it. And if someone does, well then they donno any better and think it's "hip" and "modern" to wear exactly what the model on the runway/magazine does. I think everyone here agrees that one shudn't go out like that....
And TJ, if someone decided to do convey teh same message (say, duality of nature of women) in another medium, there'd still be an uproar. So it's damned if you do, damned if you dont.

hmm... whatever u see on the ramp doesnt have to be taken literally... Galliano still hasnt been able to make it big as a designer and continues to be referred to as an artist.. no one in their right mind would wear the stuff he comes up with.. but everyone takes inspiration from him cuz this guy's work is just out there!!.... Armani.. he is a successful designer as his clothes are less bizarre and easily wearable.. they sell.
u have to know if u plan on selling somethin.. or just want to show the world out there what can be...
now.. what HSY has done is maybe bring foward some creativity ... will anyone take inspriation from it.. dont really think so because if u take out the see thru fabric, the slits etc.. ure left with an abaya that has already been done .. nothing new there!! tat is the prob... if u must be creative, be so with something that has just not been done before.. give somethin to the ppl to be inspired by
inspiration isnt bout takin fabric out or adding slits or style lines.. a good designer creates not only somethin that just hasnt been done before but that it ALSO has a market.. otherwise ure just an artist who doesnt expect anyone to buy their clothing... like Galliano . ...and now HSY with his abayas....
p.s) i think if HSY was going for inspiring women with different abaya choices... he should have used his head and come up with different finishes like fabric paint, sindhi embroidery, block printing!!!! etc...
somethin that doesnt alter the meaning of the abaya...

I would call them skirts/dresses not abayas
