ok so its been a few months since i did any exercise or carried weights…i was thinking of starting it again since i’ve been increasing weight like anything(blame fast food)
now i wanted advice on can i do at home since going to the gym is not an option.
push-ups/ situps–> how many are recommended usually to get really fit andnot just slimming down
is there any other exercise that could be done instead of pull-ups, to get the same benifts?
i got a treadmill at home, how many hours should i spend on it?
are there any other exercises you know of?
especially one to loose all that extra fat that has accumulated all over my body (esp tummy and thighs to a lesser extent:bummer:)
coming to weights…so i used to lift a certain amount X of weights…stopped for a couple of months…now just before i stopped i was gonna increase the weights i lift by 4kgs…now since i stopped, i’ll have to start lifting Xkgs, and slowly after some time will start lifting X+4 kgs…the question is how soon?(i do 5sets and rep count is 12)…i got dumbells and bars- what presses would you recommend?
also is it better to do more reps with less weight or less reps with more weight to have strength and a proper fit body? (without looking muscular and all:bummer:)
IMO push ups n sit ups the best way to tone ur body at home ......include some Abs exercises as well .......do treadmill for 15 min daily increase the timings afte every two days
for losing some fat from ur thighs u can do sit ups its the best .......
hmm u can do less weight with more reps if u dont want to look mascular n tone up ur body
i wanna go heavy to increase my strength, so how can i do that without looking muscular?
and how many pushups and sit-ups?..i do 10 push-ups in 6 sets and as i just started with sit-ups and it’s so hard i can do only 4 at a time:hinna:)
and what are those abs exercises?
(and i want to train hard, am not up for toning muscles)
thanks for the link:) there’re some good exercises,i guess i’ll get started with it insha’Allah today…
yea sit-ups are new to me, but 3 sets of 12:eek: i can do only 4 sit-ups at a time(get tired:hinna) so it’s just 4 sets of 4 sit-ups…will work my way to 12 in a set insha’Allah
are you counting calories?
and lifting weights whether less or more wont make you muscular (trust me). you need to do alot of heavy (ultra heavy) training in order to look muscular. Moreover its much more hard for females to gain muscles. there is a series of thread started by gs member reha called “myth”. And this is what myth #6 says. http://www.paklinks.com/gs/health-and-fitness/414324-myth-6-lifting-weights-will-make-you-bulk-up.html
so lift weights, do bicep, tricep, shoulders, chest, and legs exercises along with cardio (you got treadmill, right?) just do like 15mins weight training +15mins cardio= 30 mins total workout.
am not counting calories...
and i will disagree with you where you say lifting weights wont make me muscular....i already have them...when i started lifting some 3yrs back, i started building them and they began to show in just 2months time(was lifitng just 10kgs then)......so is there any way where i can do heavy lifting and not have that masculine look?
please can u elaborate on those biceps triceps atc exercises? how are they done?
ps @ guppans: kindly explain how, any exercise you mention, is done. or give the steps.

if you weren't doing biceps tris exercises where were the muscles showing? all and all even if you have little muscles its good, it will keep fat off in future.
^i used to do some very basic lifting...bench presses, wrist curls, used dumbells....
now it's quite obvious that if i am asking these questions it's because i want to increase my knowledge and have more options as far as this topic is concerned, and i need some advice too.
am sure you might know that there isnt one single exercise for each muscle, there are 'many' different ones and i want to knw about them....and tht's exactly why am asking these questions:)
ps1: @umar...if you read my post again..i never said that i didnt do biceps, triceps and bla bla exercises, i simply asked you(as i have asked oters) to tell me more about how to do these exercises
ps2: i want do 'heavy lifting for strength' and tht's my final goal, but burning fat isnt
u said you are doing it in home so how much weight equipment you have besides treadmill?
if you have nothing then squats, crunches, situps and push-ups are the best way to go. you can perform push-ups till failure and then you can put your both knees down for added support to perform more push-ups.
look at the following video to watch some of the exercises of aerobic level that doesn’t need any weights but are very very tough. you can also watch other videos related to it on the side of the page to see many other exercises.
