Are you or someone you know struggling to get rid of those last 10 lbs before the big day, be it a wedding, an audition, a special event? Or you had a baby and now you want to get back to your original weight?
As many of us always say here…your diet is only part of your weight loss plan. The other part should consist of exercise.
It really depents on how much you are trying to lose. Personally, I think working out for only 30 minz 3 times a days is only going to help you maintain your weight. If you want to lose it you have to put in more time and effort. You also need to include some form of strength training. A combination of strength training and cardio will give you the best results.
protein diets can work for some people but not all…try it and see if it works for you. play around with other diets as well but always make sure you are getting all/most of your major food groups in as well. You dont want to lack any vitamins and minerals while doing so.
IMO it’s best to avoid fad diets…just eat everything but it should be portion controlled if your goal is to lose weight. Eat what you want but dont overdue it or overindulge. That’s the best diet out there because your body wont be craving certain foods. :k:
All nice information. Good collection of weight loss tips, especially for couples getting ready to spend their lives together or people reaching that goal in the future. This can apply to all ages. We have tinkered a little around the topic of "other" methods of weight loss, the "lose fat or die" commercials that regularly run on TV and entice their viewers on terrible programming that if they don't follow, they will end up being another statistic. Perhaps we could also follow real-life examples of people who have been on a healthy eating plan and have been a part of it. Angel Eyes have also touched on the topic of taking your vitamins. Initially, it might seem so much, it overwhelms people as things start to add on their plate as far as eating 4-5 times a day, but once they get used to it, the likelihood of adjusting to this lifestyle is greater.
What are some of the other methods to reduce fat from your arms or fat from your legs/thighs, your stomach, any areas of interest?
Worship veggies. Have your meat served on veggies instead of rice or noodles.
Use the "rule of 5" which is pack 5 tastes in your plate: sweet, sour, salty, pungent and bitter. The Chinese believe this helps in weight control.
Think yin and yang. Yin foods are often steamed and provide a cooling effect. Yang foods are often grilled and warm you. This balance is thought to prevent weight gain.
Drink hot tea. Warm but not superhot helps burn excess fat. Iced tea can lead to lethargy and obesity.
work out, work out, work out- and vary your work-out speed in one session- for eg. on the treadmill, do 10 minutes of rapid cardio (running) to get your heart rate up and then 5 minutes of brisk walking, and then back to 10 minutes of running. its proven to be way more efficient at burning calories and more calories, than just doing 45 minutes of cardio at the same speed.
and challenge yourself- change up your workout routine- if you always walk, go for a swim instead or a bike ride instead. work out more muscle groups too- don't just focus on your legs or your abs only.
and of course, the best way, if you have the money for it, is to hire a personal trainer! :D

Protein diet would involve cutting off rice, roti, breads, potatoes, pastas made from enriched flour, etc. from your diet and basically consuming veggies and meats, chicken, fish, etc. You could add protein shakes, protein bars etc. The idea is that excess carb = sugar and eventually fat so cutting it off will help lose weight.
It is better to follow an established guideline instead of experimenting because you could end up throwing off some levels in your blood if you have certain underlying conditions.
