20 lbs b4 march.u must b kidding me.weight loss at a gradual pace is the best approach or u will hav a sagging face n lots of weakness.
I'll suggest join a gym or fitness class.Excercise 5 times a week.add cardios n aerobics ,light weight lifting to ur fitness plan.. c
an join weightwatchers too.make a proper diet plan.Start ur mornings with warm water with a lemon squeezed in it,no sugar added half hr b4 breakfast.Eat ur supper by 6pm n then a light snack at 8pm.Eat nothing after 8pm.Eat every 2 hrs thruout the day.
Add lots of protien,fish,lean meat,fibres,fruit n veges.No white flour only wholewheat breads/roti,brown rice.
u can also try some body cleanse or body flush.Eg Drink Senna tea 2-3 times a day for no more than 5 days.After day 5 stop drinking.It will cleanse ur colon by frequent visit to washroom.After day 5 drink a combo of green tea n olong tea(chinese tea can buy from chines store) 2-3 times a day.that will shed off some pounds fast.
Theres also a 5 day fruit flush where u drink veges juice n soups whole day.Put 5-6 diff types of veges in a juicer n drink fresh juice right away.Also vege soups for lunch n dinner like tomatoes,celery or onion,brocolli,cabbage.
With right diet n good workout tke a protien shake twice a day.Moderate carb n high protien diet gives best results rather than low carb or no carbs at all.
google foe weightloss programmes.Also u can chk the library for diet books.but don't overdo anything.keep focused n determined n try to continue with health lifestyle even after getting ur target.

Hello Saima. Welcome to GS :)

There have been countless threads on how to lose weight either from belly section or overall. Search this forum and im sure ull come up with so many threads with very informative replies by our members.

We cant just predict or tell you for sure if you will lose the given amount of weight within time. Now, just by sayin if u eat roti with salan cant help me tell you if u will lose weight by this method. You most probably would lose weight but which type of weight?.. there are types of weights ( water weight in your body, musclemass, bone loss , fat ).. you for sure do not want to lose the first 3 types .. the last one is what you need to work on. It should now be a no brainer that to lose fat on ur body, one need to exercise.. there is no question asked. Got to do a lot of cardio exercises. I'd suggest you do some cardio exercises combined with light weight training and eat normally .. ( do keep in mind to stay away from pops, fatty foods ). Drink a lot of water. Dont limit yourself to just one roti a day, tea and fruits ... you need more than that.

Excellent points. As a matter of fact. science has proven that one can only lose up till 2lbs a weak in a healthy manner. ( just imagine how much effort its needed there ).. so do the math 2lbs a week X4 =8lbs X 2(if u’re goin to pk at the end of march) = 16.. ( with all this hard efforts )..even then you cant reach your goal of losing 20lbs.

I cant stress enough on how imp. it is to have moderate amount of protein in ur daily meals. Remember this. The more you eat protein, the more you’ll have musclemass on you ( not the type of muscles guys have..DUH!.. women can never be as bulked as guys ).. the more musclemass you have on ur body, the faster you lose fat.

Cut down Fat, Sugar at all or as much as you can to get quick result.
Exercise Daily 2 hours a day

Yes you can loose that much weight Insha Allah just make your Pakka aim that you want to and have to loose 20lb by March.

After cutting Fat and sugar from your intake at all
Exercise 2 hours
Cut down your food 1/4 or 2/4 or half or 3/4.

Eat only baked and small quantity of meat especially white meat.

Raw garlic 1 or 2 clove a day

Whole grain bread that is one single and tin chapati or 2 slice of bread in morning.

Thoroughly washed raw green vegetable or baked vegetable.

Green tea no sugar

A cup of milk a day.

2 fruits a day apple, orange and other except banana, watermelon, other melons, gava.

When feel hungry drink cold water, eat cold kukhri or cold kheera.

Good luck Make aim that you wana do that special work in Pakistan your which is your goal and you have to achieve that. When you will keep your goal in your mind you will get quick result as you will remain stick to your goal.

Daily at sleeping time think what you ate whole day and think oh you ate too much next day you have to eat less.

dear saima, there is no magic trick to losing weight the right way unless you want all those side effects like sagging skin/face wrinkles etc. I lost about 15 lbs before marriage but I had to take 4 months for that. 20 lbs until march is not an idea to consider at all.

One pound of body weight is about 3500 calories.

So basically you will have to expend 3500 calories than you take in, in order to lose one pound in weight.

1-Calculate your bodies caloric requirements. (see the internet for calculators)
2-Decrease your food intake by 500 calories a day. (see internet to calories of food. for example one roti is about 120-150 calories.
3-Excercise 500 calories a day. (one mile walk is about 100 calories, so look into aerobic and weight training as well)

So with a combination of excerise and diet, you could lose 1000 calories a day or 7000 calories a week....which is about 2 pounds a week.

Saima _ I am also trying to lose 10 by mid March but it's going to take more than just cutting your diet - you need to hit the gym -

Incorporate atleast 30 minutes cardio (4-5 times a week)
Strength exercise
Increase your protein (chicken, beans, daals)
Decrease your carbs
And stop eating 2-3 hours before you go to sleep. (good fro reducing the belly area)

i hav gained from 65kg to 79kg during my recent preg.After dbaby i was 69kg.i'm at 62kg right now n i hav lost around 14-15 lbs in like 4 months.but i'm doing just the diet part.going to gym is not an option for me but if u r young n hav time to workout thats the best bet.Also i hav requested my doc to refer me to some weight loss clinic to loose inches on my belly.I still hav to lose 6-8 more kilos.

P.S:eating chocolate icecream while typing ::D

Thanks to all of you. it's really helpful post I will try but the thing is I can't join the gym bcz my parents won't allow me U knwo what I mean like pakistani and muslim peoples don't allow the girls to go out specially in gym.
but anyways thanks for post I will try some of diet and excercise from post.

^in that case either buy a bike or threadmill or cheapest way to go is rope skipping n halla hop.Also chk some yoga excercises online.Another very popular thing these days is fitness Dance dvds.u dance n excercise at same time watching those dvds.their techniques make u lose faster.

Eat icecream three times a day! - works like a charm, easy too, but it HAS to be eaten in the following way, or it probably wont work.

Breakfast - vanilla icecream

Want to share an exercise to flatten ur tummy …

Early morning before breakfast … take a little time out for this simple exercise…

Stand straight… bend down keeping ur legs straight n try to touch ur foot’s thumb wid hand’s thumb… do it for two to three times as a starter n gradually increase the number…

would be difficult in start.. but then u ll get used to it…

then there is another one…

stand straight … put right leg on ur bed or chair (like resting with bed just for support) … and try to touch ur foot’s thumb with ur right hand’s thumb keeping left hand at the back… then with right hand’ thumb… do it ten times

repeat the same for left leg…

it will hurt ur leg muscles in start but surely will help ya …

Weight Issue

Ok i know people are always asking about weight loss here but i have a different question. I gained about 10 pounds last year and no matter what i do i cannot get it off. I used to be really overweight as a child, but starting exercising and eating properly and lost the weight by the time I was 16.

This 10 lbs is really fustrating me because I used to be able to lose weight really quickly, if I ate light one day I would lose 2 or 3 lbs the next day( i don't care if it was just water weight) . Now if I really watch my diet the whole week, I still do not lose a single pound.

I even went to Pakistan last month for 4 weeks, and was eating like crazy, but still didn't really gain weight when i came back...which is ok i guess but I used to lose weight in pakistan too.

Do you think there's something wrong with me and I should go to the doctor?

by the way i'm only 21

Your metabolism is slowing down.

Decrease your calorie intake or increase your exercise or do both.

Weight loss in pakistan is because of the heat makes you sweat, which increases your metabolism and the calories burnt by your body. (or in winter, there is no central heating of homes, so your body metabolism increases to keep your body warm).

also.... if you really think something is wrong, it nvr hurts to see a doc and get a physical exam.
