Re: weight and beauty
have you actually, consistently changed your diet (what you are eating and portion size) and stuck to it? i.e. for a month at least?

I'm eating around 1500 calories a day(no processed or junk food)...I'm nit putting any weight on but I'm not losing any either. I still think I don't need more than 800 calories a day and I'm eating way too more than my body needs it.
Re: weight and beauty
What?
Someone should revoke her licence.
Re: weight and beauty
Although no one paid attention but go read my post in Inspiron’s thread about metabolism. Eating far too few calories for your body doesn’t = permanent wt loss. Here I will even link it.
Re: weight and beauty
I lost 20lb healthy way but put it back on again after becoming lazy. So no matter how you lose weight you have to take measures to keep it off.
Re: weight and beauty
When will men learn: NEVER comment on a woman's weight. :(
Re: weight and beauty
Lol i think its also health wise and through media people see being thin is beautiful. But it doesn’t mean a size 10/12 girl will look less pretty than a size 8 girl. You need to take weight loss slow or take it fast but make sure you eat healthy and maintain the weight for a long time till you get used to it. Funny thing is in arab culture men prefer chubby girls and thin girls aren’t prefered.
Re: weight and beauty
Doing awesome yo. What is this stones stuff???
Re: weight and beauty
Let me tell you what happens when you let yourself go.
Remember it is not about looking pretty. God made us all unique and we cannot change the features, our complexions, etc. But we can be as healthy as we choose to be so we feel the best we can from within, which in turn reflects in our overall attitude.

Ofcourse one can't eat everything and anything and not gain weight. That's why your "diet" (and I hate using that word because people equate it to some rigorous regime) should be something you can maintain and make a habit out of. It should become your lifestyle to eat in a healthy manner. If you do go on a stricter diet then tapper it off very slowly so your body can adjust. Also I forgot to mention if you stop a low cal diet not only do you gain all the lost wt back but MORE!
Re: weight and beauty

Re: weight and beauty
hareem, uve got to believe in yourself and love yourself for anything to happen.
If you're depressed and feeling resentful, its hard to want to eat healthy and look after yourself.
Motivate yourself. Set a goal for yourself and Inshallah you'll get there. Dont think of size 8 right now. Think of 12, then 10, then 8.... take it slowly, but do take steps
Re: weight and beauty
I've got to share my story with you. Maybe you'll get some motivation.
Last year, I made several trips to urgent care and my physician because of severe pelvic and lower back, and lower abdominal pains. At least twice a week, I had to lay down early with a heating pad and a bunch of anti-inflammatory pills round the clock. After many tests, CTs, etc, my physician told me that there are no cysts or ulcers or appendicitis or whatever, but mechanical pain that comes from bad posture and lack of exercise. So I told her that I'm very active, do a bunch of physical chores, etc etc...but she explained to me how important it is to incorporate organized physical exercise into our lives.
Now I had done Wii Fit at home, YouTube workouts, etc, but somehow the discipline wasn't happening for me at home. So a few weeks later, LA Fitness opened close to my place. I got a few free passes, went for a few days. Felt great. It hurt at first, had sore muscles, but I felt great to take an hour out of my day for myself...where I was alone, doing something productive for my health and self image. When I as a mom and wife feel good about myself, I pass on a better attitude to people around me. So I joined the gym in late February.
4 months later, I've lost 10lbs, have 7 more to go before I reach my ideal weight. BMI is now in healthy range. Moved from size 10 to 6. Feel awesome. Have abundance of energy and I believe I look good too. :D The thing is that the discipline has produced results. You have no idea how many friends have been motivated by my consistency, and I am glad to have influenced them in a positive way.
Realize that YOU are valuable, and your health affects you and everyone around you. Do it Hareem! You're going to be back here in a few weeks raving about how keeping fit has changed your entire life!
Re: weight and beauty
I completely agree with you Niksik. A couple of years back, I was always having back pain, neck pain... you name it. I thought it was the way I sit or my bed or the fact I was always on the computer... whatever. When I started at the gym regularly, it all disappeared within a matter of weeks. I really need to get back to that :/
And something I wanted to say before is that we all (me included) need to face up to the fact that we over eat. Everyone is so focused on this calorie allowance... which really, does it come from science or the food industry? That we ignore the fact that before 60 years or so ago, we were healthy and eating a lot less... we still had energy to function well. I think people have been trained to believe there is something wrong if they are hungry, when in fact, it's completely normal to be hungry and wait until a meal time. From a religious perspective, fasting is prescribed so must be beneficial to our health.. and we do manage to survive and function in that fasting state.

So true! Our portion sizes are huge. Even if you are eating seemingly healthy food, if you eat a big portion it means you had consumed more calories and at the end of the day it all adds up.

Word.
What Niksik said.
It's really a combination of healthy living and healthy eating.
A habit needs to be developed where some sort of exercise is undertaken on a regular basis. This must be coupled with healthy eating. I find there are alot of foods that can be avoided quite easily.
I think this is just restating what niksik said.
Also, dont starve. Ever. After starving people tend to eat ALOT which is not good.
Eating alot isn't always the problem as much as how often you eat. If you take the amount of food you eat over 3 meals and eat it instead over 6 it will be alot healthier. Infact you'd be probably eating more over the 6 meals but it still wouldn't be as bad as sitting down for 3 and just going bonkers; that would result in a bloating feeling.
Balance is the key here.
Re: weight and beauty
I could starve myself and I wouldn't lose around or an inch. exercise is key. And do what you love.
If you don't like to run, then walk. If you don't like to walk then swim. If you don't like to swim, do karate or kick boxing.
