Wedding set

How much ( in dollars) does a wedding set cost in Pakistan? on average…?

Re: Wedding set

depends on how much you want to spend. What venues/wedding dress designer made or not? Again its all dependent on how much your family wants to spend.
If you want an exuberent wedding that would be somewhere in $30-$40K. but less then that ...wayyy less then that is very much possible:)

Re: Wedding set

^ she asked abt the jewelery set..not entire wedding…darao matt uss ko :cb:

Re: Wedding set

:) thanks! sorry, i meant just for the wedding set, like not a crazy big one but an average one. I'm going to Pakistan next week and want an idea of how much i'll be spending!

Re: Wedding set

You should be able to get a decent wedding set anywhere b/w $3000-$5000. It depends on the rate of gold at that specific time.

Actually you should be able to get some decent churiyan and karay in the above price along with the wedding set.

I just hope that with BB's assasination, gold rates are not touching the sky.

I would suggest you get rates from couples before you chose one.

Congrats and all the best!

Re: Wedding set

Thank you!!

Re: Wedding set

I will HIGHLY recommend you to buy a nice gold plated set to wear on your wedding and spend the rest of the money on medium sized real gold sets because those are the ones you'll really get to wear. Spending thousands of dollars on a set that you'll wear only a few times in your entire life does not make sense, trust me. I'm regreting that I spent so much on my Nikah set because I haven't worn it even once after the wedding!

Re: Wedding set

WOW, that's a really good idea, getting a gold plated set. I have spent so much money on my shaadi jhora's that getting a super expensive set will defintely hurt!
what do you think the price of a gold plate set would be? including a jhumar and tikka?

I only have 2 weeks in Lahore to do all my shopping!!!!! and I'm leaving next week...

Re: Wedding set

does anyone know a good place in Lahore where I can find a nice variety of gold plated bridal sets?

also a good store for ready made formals?

Re: Wedding set

I don't think it's gonna be too expensive but it will definitely cost several thousand rupees depending on where you get it from in Pak and you can totally customize it to match color AND design of your wedding dress. It will look real so you don't have to tell anybody that it was fake. :) g'luck!

Re: Wedding set

In 10 to 30 thousand rupees (something like $400-$600), you should be able to get a decent gold plated set.

Re: Wedding set

If u go to Lahore, i'm pretty sure you can find really gorgeous gold plated sets from Anarkali. They really do look nice, besides an artificial set isn't so much of a stigma anymore.. (least id un think it is)

Re: Wedding set

Really? thats such a great idea, thanks girls. I will definitely go to Anarkali and check those sets out. I won't tell my Mother in Law though!

i'm so annoyed right now, i'm trying to contact my designer but he is MIA, i hope he doesn't pull any stunts with me. I'm talking about ROUGE by MEMOONA MANAN.

ugh!!

Re: Wedding set

i think because of the bb assassination, gold prices are sky high at the moment... i guess try and be flexible with what you want? jarao sets are beautiful and they're set in gold, i.e are not all gold, so that could be a nice alternative to consider :)

Re: Wedding set

^ Ok so how are those two things related? Not trying to argue but what's the link between the death and price of gold??

Re: Wedding set

i went to lahore in october. u can find good sets from 2 to 5 thousand. complete sets, with jhoojmer and bindiya.

normally i saw the people buying matching set with their bridal dresses were between 1 to 2 k pak rupess (artificial sets but looks like gold)

Re: Wedding set

^ Really, 2-5000?? The sets i saw were for like 10-15,000 :(

Re: Wedding set

my very basic understanding is that a politician’s death creates instability in the economy because everyone is foreseeing their other stocks dropping, so they start selling those before they lose too much money, and start buying something that doesn’t devalue like other stocks because its a “safe haven” and that increases demand and drives the price up. im trying to recall economics from way back when but there you go, when something crazy happens, the price of oil and gold always goes up.

reuters explains it better :stuck_out_tongue:
http://www.reuters.com/article/hotStocksNews/idUSL028236520080102

“LONDON (Reuters) - Gold prices swept to a record high on Wednesday above the key $850-an-ounce mark, driven by surging oil, a weaker dollar and simmering geopolitical tensions that polished its safe-haven credentials.”

“It’s not surprising, given that gold’s a safe-haven asset. It’s reflective of the fact there is risk aversion in the market in the new year,” said Phylis Papadavid, strategist at Socgen. “Right now the market is wanting more clarity on the U.S. economy.”

“A weaker dollar makes gold cheaper for holders of other currencies and often lifts bullion demand. The metal is also generally seen as a hedge against oil-led inflation.”

“Oil prices briefly touched a record $100 a barrel on Wednesday, boosting gold’s appeal as a hedge against inflation. Violence in Nigeria, tight energy stockpiles and a weaker dollar triggered a surge of speculative buying in crude oil. U.S. crude futures settled up $3.64 at $99.62 a barrel.”

“Geopolitical tension – most recently highlighted by the assassination of Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto – also proved a boon for safe-haven buying.”

Re: Wedding set

^^ Edit: Thank you! That is way better then my explanation. lol

Sara, it was a death of a political leader, a prime minister candidate. Such deaths have huge impact on stock markets. The prices of stocks go higher and their sales go down (something like that.) The prices of goods including oil and gold go up as well. So in short prices for everything from food, utility products, oil to gold are all increased to different percents depending on the availability and demand.

Sorry, I can't explain it any better but I hope you get an idea.

Re: Wedding set

I've seen the sets that cost 1 to 2k but they don't look genuine because the metal used underneath the gold plating is cheap and very light in weight...the expensive ones have sterling silver underneath and they're heavy, it's hard to tell they're fake!
