I got mine custom made and its very similar to the ring that pops on the main page of Daniel K Diamonds. the center stone is a 1.7 aascher, F VS2, Excellent cut and polish, with 106 small diamonds all around it. Needless to say, it was the most important aspect of the wedding. i still havent gotten a wedding band but it will be made to match the the engagement ring, im thinking paved all around with a thin band. the engagement ring took 2 months and a lot of pain and effort on my part, my aunts, and the woman we were getting it done thru and i dont feel like going thru that all again for another few months so i guess ill just wait some time to get the wedding band made.

sumo, you'd have to get your band custom-made, no, to make sure it slides under the stone? otherwise the gap between the two rings would look odd.

I have a few question too - When I got engaged my fiance didn't get me a ring instead he got me a dress and jewellery. Now for the wedding he has got me a ring - I absolutely love it, A stunning classic brillaint cut solitare, but in my view its looks very much like an enagagement ring not a wedding ring. Too me a wedding ring is a wedding band.
As I am buying his wedding band, I am thinking I'l buy one for me that obviously compliments his.
Question is A) shall i ask him to pay for it? Im not fussed about the money being just a plain white gold it does't really cost much - Im more concerned about the principal. Im indifferent either way, however I don't want to seem petty either - Im not good at asking for presents nor money!
And B) On the wedding day will it seem odd if he puts both the 'engagement - wedding' ring and wedding band on me at the same time. If it was an either/or situation then I would just want him to put the wedding band on my finger as thats what I associate weddings with, but I know that he wont be happy with that. Everybody else tells me not to get the wedding band and buy it later as it will look odd if he puts both rings on me - but I personally don't see the point on buying a wedding band if its not given to you on ur wedding day.
And lastly did anyone have their bands engraved, if so do you mind sharing?

usually the bride pays for the groom's ring, and he pays for hers. so if money isn't an issue but principle is, i'd say go ahead and get his ring for him :) the hubs and i went out shopping together for his ring as i really wanted him to get one both of us liked, but mainly him as he has to wear it!
and what i did was wear my engagement ring on my right hand, and let him slide the band on to my left finger. then when the ceremony was done, i just arranged them both on my left hand. its a very minor detail, honestly, so do what you want to! :)

SGC, I've actually tried on rings that fit right under but still want it custom made. Though what I'm waiting to try on is a thin band with the ring so I know it doesnlt look weird before I place an order because the engagement ring doesn't have a very thin band. hopefully, it'll work out, i have my trusty aunt who's crazy about diamond jewelry to help me out.

Aara, I think you should purchase his wedding band. Me and my husband were gonna go shopping together at Tiffany's for his wedding band but then I had to leave to khi and we didnt get any time to go shopping and he went alone but i had told him to choose and get whatever he likes and that i'd pay for it. so he showed me the kinds of things he liked at their website and we decided from there but i ended up paying for it. for the engagement ring, i did all the running around and picked out the whole thing myself, and he paid for it however, it would have been better if he were more involved with the process. at the same time, i've always been into engagement rings so if he had gotten me soemthing i didnt like, it would have been very upsetting and he knew that so he let me take control of it along with my aunt.
so we had a very small engagement party at my house with just our immediate families and he told me afterwards that his oldest sister wants him to give that ring to me on the wedding in front of everyone.so i was like, well are u gonna put two rings on my finger that day? the engagement ring and the weddign band? and he said, thats not a problem, i can either put two, or i can jsut put on the engagement ring and give u the wedding band later. turns out, that we didnt get the wedding band made in time anyway, so ill get it later. but i dont think it would be weird if he gave u two rings. just think about what u and him prefer, and ask ur close family.
it's often the groom's parents who pick the ring out for the bride. if they don't ask, it may or may not be what you want. mine is a 1/2 carat round diamond set in yellow gold. i'm going to get myself a 1 carat princess cut with a band one day, IA.

One of my aunts got an engagement ring with half my budget and all she cared about was weight so she ended up getting princess cut stones that don't sparkle at all. It all depends on what you care for. Do your research before purchasing a diamond because it can be very tricky.

Me and hubby have been married 2 years but alas no wedding ring :( lol. I was waiting for him to get his visa and then we could go shopping together for one here, cos we decided we'd get our wedding bands custom made. now the problem is that i cant think at all about what i want them to look like, ive got vague ideas but thats it. its hard!
