Interesting to find out how many men still wear their wedding rings and how many of you don’t…Those who don’t - after how long did you stop wearing them…And how do the wives react?
How important is a wedding ring?

Re: Wedding Rings
I read a fatwa that the idea of rings are wrong..wearing a ring alone is not wrong, but the idea of it, that its suposed to increase your love and if ure not wearing it it doesn’t, thats considered a form of shirk..
Personally I dunno how i’d react if he took off the ring..I odn’t think it’d be a big deal for me ![]()
Re: Wedding Rings
u know what.. i am not married but i just thought about this today... i hardly seen any pakistani men wearing any rings .....i cant think of one male who wears one.
Its usually white ppl who wear it through out their lives
Re: Wedding Rings
^^Not true. It's the older generation (i.e. parents, grandparents) that don't wear rings. Where I live, its the younger generation that has started wearing rings.
Re: Wedding Rings
Well, lets see, BIL#2 wears his baray shauq se, BIL#1 had even asked us not to waste money on a ring since he wouldn;t be wearing one but ofcourse we still did and then baaji wore it as a pendant for the longest time and eventually it got put in her jewelry box where it rests now. Don;t think dad even got a ring
Dad says shukar hei aapki ammi mil gaeen theen ![]()
As for its importance it would guard your husband from any unneeded attention, I believe. A female looking for a relationship probably won;t approach him seeing he is married or so I hope!
Sara who the hell issues these fatwas u get a hold of? Not wearing the wedding ring is shirk? What the…!
Re: Wedding Rings

I duno the exact details, if i find it again ill post it, but ti did make sense t me.. wearing/not wearing rings is aite, as long as there's no "this makes me love you more" or somethin..
Re: Wedding Rings
Derived from the Qur’an and the Prophetic tradition(Sunnah), there are 4 main categories of Shirk in Islam.
This category of Shirk refers to either the belief that others share God’s Lordship over creation as His equal or near equal, or to the belief that there exists no Lord over creation at all.
(A) Shirk by Association
This is the shirk concerned with associating ‘others’ with God. Among some Muslim people, Shirk in Ruboobeeyah is manifested in their belief that the souls of saints and other righteous humans can affect the affairs of this world, even after their deaths. Their souls, it is believed, can fulfill one’s needs, remove calamities and aid whoever calls on them. Therefore, grave worshippers assign to human souls the divine ability to cause events in this life which in fact only God can cause.
(B) Shirk by Negation
This sub-category represents the various philosophies and ideologies which deny the existence of God either explicitly or implicitly. That is, in some cases God’s non-existence is stated (Atheism), while in other cases His existence is claimed, but the way in which He is conceived actually denies His existence (Pantheism).
Shirk in this category includes both the common pagan practice of giving God the attributes of His creation as well as the act of giving created beings God’s names and attributes.
(A) Shirk by Humanization
In this aspect of Shirk in al-Asma was-Sifat, God is given the form and qualities of human beings and animals. Due to man’s superiority over animals, the human form is more commonly used by idolaters to represent God in creation. Consequently, the image of the Creator is often painted, moulded or carved in the shape of human beings possessing the physical features of those who worship them.
(B) Shirk by Deification
This form of Shirk in al-Asma was-Sifat relates to cases where created beings or things are given or claim God’s names or His attributes. For example, it was the practice of the ancient Arabs to worship idols whose names were derived from the names of God. Their main three idols were: al-Lat taken from God’s name al-Elah, al-'Uzza taken from al-'Aziz and al-Manat taken from al-Mannan. During the Prophet Muhammad’s era there was also a false prophet in a region of Arabia called Yamamah, who took the name Rahman which only belongs to God.
In this category of Shirk, acts of worship are directed to other than God and the reward for worship is sought from the creation instead of the Creator. As in the case of the previous categories, Shirk in al-'Ebadah has two main aspects.
(A) Ash-Shirk al-Akbar (Major Shirk):
This form of Shirk occurs when any act of worship is directed to other than God. It represents the most obvious form of idolatry which the prophets were specifically sent by God to call the masses of mankind away from.
(B) Ash-Shirk al-Asghar (Minor Shirk):
Minor Shirk
Mahmood ibn Lubayd reported, "God’s messenger (peace be upon him) said: “The thing I fear for you the most is ash-Shirk al-Asghar (minor shirk).” The companions asked “Oh! messenger of God, what is minor Shirk?” He replied “Ar-Riya (showing off), for verily God will say on the Day of Resurrection when people are receiving their rewards, 'Go to those for whom you were showing off in the material world and see if you can find any reward from them.”
Secret Shirk
Mahmood ibn Lubayd also said, “The Prophet (peace be upon him) came out and announced, ‘O people, beware of secret Shirk!’ The people asked, ‘O messenger of God, what is secret Shirk?’ He replied, 'When a man gets up to pray and strives to beautify his prayer because people are looking at him; that is secret Shirk.”
Riya is the practice of performing any of the various forms of worship in order to be seen and praised by people. This sin destroys all the benefits that lie in righteous deeds and brings on the one who commits it a serious punishment.
Re: Wedding Rings
my husband wears it almost all the time but I dun.. in fact I have lost mine :$
It's not that I dun like wearing wedding rings.. I just dun like rings at all so I have a problem wearing one!! I do wear a necklace with his initial and I think I am fine with it!
my dad had his wedding ring on all the time but my mom has kept hers safe in a jewelry box!!
Re: Wedding Rings
My husband wore his ring until he lost it...and Im too lazy to replace it... I wear a wedding band only, even though I have a nice engagement ring...
If ur husband is going to be attracted to others, or be drawn to women who flirt with him...the ring wont stop him..
to me its just another one of those wedding rituals.
Re: Wedding Rings
yep ive seen that 2. lets put it this way…if he doesnt wear his..i wont be wearing mine.
so we can both look single!! the choice is his :halo:
Re: Wedding Rings
I stopped wearing mine after about 5 years, my wife took it to the jewlers and exchanged it for something for her self. :)
I don't think wedding rings are that important. Even though I stopped wearing mine after 5 years we clebrated our wedding silver jubilee two years ago. A happy married life.
Re: Wedding Rings
i've never wore my ring ever since i've been married, My wife doesnt have any problem cuz she knows me that i dont wear ring cuz i dont like it..... *
*if girls think that guys dont wear ring just cuz they wanna look single...... i wud say " get a life" ...comon , There is more to life for a guy than to think about chicks all the time.
Re: Wedding Rings
not really! :p
Re: Wedding Rings
Would mind telling me ................why not?
Re: Wedding Rings
lol, eggactly!!
Re: Wedding Rings
I cant wear my wedding ring anymore...my fingers are swollen..no comment :(
Actually my husband doesn't wear his ring, he has it in the original box, main reason being he doesn't believe men are allowed to wear jewelry...especially precious metals..I don't think it is even allowed for Muslim men to wear any precious metal. HIs ring was white gold with a diamond....we specifically got white gold cuz i thought it was ok. If anyone has any details on whether its true that men can wear precious metal jewelry...plzz advise/post.
Re: Wedding Rings
Afro-sheen, it is GOLD that muslim men cannot wear. Platinum, titanium, or silver should be fine.
Re: Wedding Rings
I am not big on jewelry, plus the pounds that came over the last 9 years have made wearing the ring a little uncomfortable :) so I dont wear it often.
Re: Wedding Rings
I thought the main reason men arent allowed to wear gold is because they shouldnt be wearing precious metals. Getting a platinum ring which essentially costs way more than a gold one just doesnt make sense in that case.
