hi, im new to forums and i need loads of help, getting married next year summer, and i am totally stuck on a few things which are:-
Lehnga: where should i get it from (shops in england are too expensive), i want tp get it from pakistan but i am worried about the quality/fitting as im not going myself
Trail/train:- Are they practical to have on the lehnga? i really do want one.
3.:- Colour: what color to wear? other than pink n red. im really fair so i cant pull of light colours.I dont mind red but itz very typical.
Can u plzzzzzzzzz all help me, as i want to get the lehnga soon. id really appreciate it. xxx
oho why not red if u think its typical den dnt wea lehnga wear something else bcoz lehnga its typical too,,but its upto u gal dnt take me otherwise i ws jus throwin my opinion i like brides in red lehnga.but i no ,no wgalz like to wear light colours,i wear red on barat n light lime offwhite on walima..
u can check "saleem fabrics" at liberty, lahore
buy a unstitch lehnga later on stitch it according to ur fitting.
i agree with torquise pari....bridal dress iz all about red...dulhan doesnt luk lyk one if shez wearing sumthing else...she gets blended with other ppl...u have a plus point ur fair trust me it will luk stunning on u...just an advise rest its up to u!
^ lol no she doesn’t… bride is a bride, no matter what…
i never wanted a red lengha so uh..i didnt get one
try ur best to go to pakistan…if u cannot, and u know relatives who are going , try collecting pictures from this website (go to the bridal pics thread) and check out pixs there… believe me u will find TONNNS of pics! and if u have an outfit that fits u perfectly, u can just give that as ur size…
trains are nice… they’re not practical I think, but then most bridal dresses really arent practical
Bright pink, u can also do maroon, or if u just wanna stay out of those… do something different and get blue! navy blue and maroon, or egg plant, there’s deep dark green, or if u want light, there’s golden/champagne, or pale pink, pista green, turqoise, oo la laaa
thnkz, I tink it will end up being red, Coz your right, a bride doesnt look a bride in any other colour. Unfortunately i have got no relatives going to pakistan and actually dont trust the choice of those out there.
I've seen Alot of lehngas but they dont have a balance, Some have a realy heavy kameez and dupatta but the skirt part is quite plain. I was thinking of just finding a designer that can do it, but are they trustworthy?
get on facebook and contact the designers..i have had good luck with communicating with amna kardar..hajra..maria b..etc..they will work with you and do exactly what you want!
Bride is a bride is a bride! NO matter what color she wears! NO you don't have to stick to reds, brides these days are wearing every shade and hue possible! If you don't want red, u still have oodles of colors to chose from. Silver, golds, coppers, teal, aqua, watermelon pink, amber, ivory, emerald, burgundy, mink!
hmm i know theres loads of colours i could go for, but ive tried on so many different ones and nothing seems right other than green or red lol, i realy wanted to wear emerald green but ended up wearing that for the engagement so thats a no-no. I dont want to wear blue as that has been worn numerous times by cousins and aunties in the past at their own weddings. With ivory n golds n silvers i look very pale and lifeless, but i also have to go with how the venue is going to be decorated. OOO this is very confusing. Do u knw of any other designers?
I found some online stores which seem to have orite looking lehngas like indusmart and hina B.
Has anyone ever bought anything like lehngas from them?
hey if you cant go to pakistan have u thought about buying from here? On my sisters wedding we got her lengha from birmingham form a shop called khushboo by chand, they show u a smaple and u pick the colours and thye measure u, then they send it off to india to have it made. They only charged us £800 and the exact same lengha was in bombay stores in bradford for £3000. Oh and it was pink, if you want to see it im happy to e-mail it to you, its just il have to ask her to e-mail me the pics first.
The red debate really gets on my nerves when ppl say ur not a bride if u dont wear red? So are you not a bride if you don't wear pure gold, wear mendi, chooriyan or a nath? The most amazing designs from our pakistani designs are non red, which highlights that times are moving on in terms of fashion, i mean how many red lenghas are amazing? Pakistanis love to play with colours and most brides on gupshup have largely stepped out of the box.
this tradition stems from the indian culture......i could be wrong, but it is something we have copied. U wear what suits u, as its ur wedding day and u want to look ur best. I never wore red and no one said to me 'y did u not wear red' they all said 'you did something out of the box and ppl will remember you for not being typical'. i have attended loads of weddings and as soon as u enter the hall without seeing the bride u know she is wearing red (by the deco), brides need to have the element of suprise on there wedding day and make ppl turn heads!
your absolutely right silsila! I wore copper/gold, green and burnt orange on my wedding day, a multi-coloured lengah. I did used to regret not wearing red but then I look at my dress and think it is not that typical bridal red dress and that makes me happy! So if I were you, I would not opt for the red dress because you might end up regreting why you didnt wear another colour.

Hey...
I strongly think you should get your wedding from Pakistan, Lahore preferably .
Send a fitted outfit to one of your relatives in Pakistan with your measurements, that way the have a really good idea of your size.
Also, as far as the train is concerned, the tailors nowadays say it's out of style, but if you like it..definately get it....I think it looks super elegant. And with colour.....there is a gigantic selection in just red, if you can pull it off..then go for it..why don't you get a combination done? I really like champagne gold and red ((with more champagne/beige and less red) with 'swarovski crystal' look-a-likes...looks hot
well my dress colors were gold/orange,red, pink.it was so pretty
myy dress was designed and stitched by Libas-e Khass, liberty.2nd day dress was frm Saleem fabbrics liberty. of golden brown color (posted the pics already).
they usually measure u and stitch according to the measurements and yes u can check it n dcan have alterations.
Ive decided to get it from pakistan, Anyone know off any good designers who can make it quik and send it back to uk and also make it gorjus?
and are reliable?
hear hear silsila! i wore champagne/gold/tan and never once did i feel like less of a bride, nor did anyone tell me i looked like anything less! i say wear what suits you and if its red, thats great, but if its offwhite or pink or green or any other color, more power to you too! not everyone can pull off red and nor is every red jora beautiful.
