Wedding Invitation Wording

Re: Reception Invitation Wording

YP, we already had Valima here in the US but w/o my hubby's family so we think reception would be a more appropriate word.

veer zara, thanks. I think we'll go with 2nd format.

Re: Reception Invitation Wording

i like the second one.

Wedding Invitation Wording

I'm about to order my wedding and mehndi invitation and so confused about the wording.....

Can someone please post a sample wording from their invitations for both Shadi (Barat) and Mehndi.....

Re: Wedding Invitation Wording

ooh, just popping in from pakistan, i'll tell you quickly-

for my mehendi invites, i wrote:

Bring your best wishes and your dancing shoes!
You are cordially invited to the
Mehendi celebration for
X and Y
on ....
at ....

and for my wedding, it said,

Mr. and Mrs. X and Y XYZ
request the honour of your presence
at the wedding of their daughter
ABC
to
EFJ
son of Mr. and Mrs. A and B ABC
on Sunday, the fifth of August
two thousand and seven
at half past five in the evening
(line break)
Parkwood Estate
Oshawa

Thanks!

yaar i had the same issue thanks. I live in Dubai and having reception in Pakistan and want to write No boxed gifts on the card. Do you think people will be offended. I dont want people wasting money on gifts I will either leave in Pakistan or give away. Advice.

I think it looks tacky to write " No Boxed Gifts" on the invitation just have an insert stating no boxed gifts because you wont be able to take them with you...

Re: Wedding Invitation Wording

yea, try not to have "no boxed gifts" on ur card..

Re: Wedding Invitation Wording

Khawateen aur Hazraat, humari shaadi me aap ko kush aamdeed.

Umeed hai ke aap humari shaadi per aane ki ehsaan farmaai, aur apni saat bohot sarhi paise leke aiy.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.

You started it off so beautifully........that it made the second part of the message it even funnier. You don't waste any time getting to the point do you?

^ I'll be using these lines for my future wedding (whenever that will be).....i don't like beating around the bush....so I'll make my interests loud and clear: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! (skip the boxed gifts....spare yourself the gift wrapping....and just stuff some cash in an envelope). Hmm....that will b part of my "fine print" clause.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....omh dis is soo funny..
stright to da point

Re: Wedding Invitation Wording

huh.. ???????? no one from Lahore ????????

Re: Wedding Invitation Wording

I'm from Lahore but I've no idea what you wrote...:p

Re: Wedding Invitation Wording

LOL... no porbs. Its a very common thing heard in streets of Lahore when someone/family wants to do Khairaat etc. like On Milaad Un Nabi or Moharam or anything like that.

Re: Wedding Invitation Wording

I wanted your opinions on whether or how to write this on our invitations?

My family is adamant that we write "no gifts" on the invitations because we just want people to share in our happiness rather than worry about what to give or how much to give, especially in such hard times. My uncle said that this "no one does this in Pakistan" and that "we'll be the laughingstock of the family" for writing this. Is he right? How can we word this to get across our sentiments?
