hi everyone!

i am not a fan of diets and i am only 8 and a half stone but podgy in places and i want to be slimmer, i am eating the right stuff but what else can i do? some brides tend to start drinking different teas or taking diff pills and it always works but they never share tehir secrets! what can i do to look slimmer and lose soem weight around the face?? i will be exercising etc throught the run up until the month before but i only really have 3 months before the wedding!

Stay away from the "special" teas and pills. More often than not, they're gimmicks and dangerous ones at that.

Start exercising. You don't have to do anything crazy...it can be something as simple as a brisk walk for half an hour. Try to do this at least five times a week. Or find a physical activity that you enjoy that keeps your heart pumping (again for at least half an hour).

You can't really lose weight in a specific area. When you lose weight, it gradually comes off everywhere and there's a difference in your whole body. That said, a bit of contouring around the cheeks with makeup can achieve a slightly slimmer look (or so I've heard) about the face. Wearing black is also popular for looking slimmer. Good posture is also a must.

Just keep eating healthy, try to work in some heart pumping physical activity, and Inshallah, you'll see some results.

here is how i lost weight

i was kind of chubby before my nikkah ( march 2009)
just two weeks before my nikkah i went on the subway diet....i would get a foot long subway and have them cut it in three parts...i would space that out through the whole day lunch dinner and somewhere in the middle..

breakfast :

-i usually had tea (not special tea just your normal everyday milk and tea bag with one teaspoon of sugar tea) in the mornings at breakfast sometimes but not always with half a toast

lunch:

-1/3 subway sandwich somewhere between 11-1

middle:

-1/3 subway sandwich somewhere between 3-4

dinner:
-1/3 subway sandwich somewhere between 6-7

nothing to eat after 7

if i get hungry after 7 to this day i may have a glass of milk or tea but nothing to eat

by nikkah i was at a weight that was tolerable for a bride

aftr nikkah i kept up my diet so that by rukhsat time now i literally look like a model

after nikkah for 1 month straight whenever i ate i would eat nothing but boiled rice and fish or subways... i would not eat until i was about ready to fall over from hunger and i would not fill my tummy thorri si bhuuk rakhti thi end mein and i would have to eat every 3-4 hours but nothing after 7 PM i would only have fluids after 7 PM

then in one month time i was at a weight that i thought would look just great on rukhsati so i went back to eating everything but once again wouldnt eat till i was ready to fall over from hunger was angain not filling my tummy but keeping myself just a tad bit hungry causing me to need to eat every 3-4 hours which i did and did not eat nything after 7 only had fluids...by rukhsati time which was 9 months after nikkah i had a gorgeous body i was not heavy around the hips or thighs anymore m slim all over and my jawline has an awesome cut...

the key is since you have two months in the first month focus on subways and in the second month eat everything but only eat when u are abt to die of hunger and when you eat do not overeat or fill your tummy leave a lttle bit of hunger eat again after 3 hrs but never eat after 7 PM only have fluids... i did not do much exrecise except maybe dancing to bollywood songs once or twice a week for an hor or two... but if you religgiously walk or dance i guarantee you will have wonderful results by the time you are about to be a bride

it's not...actually it;s probably the easiest diet ever only the first month is a bit difficult but after that you get to eat whatever you want not at all drastic your just following a few principles (1) dont eat until you are extremely hungry...(2) when you eat leave space in your tummy (3) eat again 3-4 hours later....and (4) dont have anything but fluids after 7PM but eat whatever you want eat chocolate cake eat butter chicken whatever :D

subway…hmm hard to explain but it’s basically a fastfood type restaurant where you get low calorie healthy sandwiches

Erm, im pretty sure a Subway (chi) sandwich has more salt than like 5 packs of Walkers (Lays in America) crisps (chips in America).

Sounds like a silly diet plan, sorry luv.

I agree with milly, Subway by no means is healthy it's just their marketing scheme, unless you are eating salad with no dressing from there.
Also, I hope you were taking multivitamin as well, because the diet you explained is lacking many nutrients that your body really needs.

2nd, eating smaller meal is a great idea however; not eating after 7pm is drastic;
You are seriously damaging your metabolism which is a process that burns down calories you consume into energy. when metabolism slows down, what ever you eat is getting stored as fat, instead of being used as energy. When you starve yourself and then eat. Whatever you eat gets stored as fat if not needed for energy because your body thinks it might not get food for long time again.

So for the person who asked the question I would strongly recommend not to follow this diet since the weight you are gonna loose will be back on as soon as you eat normal again.

Just exercise, do interval run something that keeps your heartbeat going up and down. I love running on treadmill for 1.5 min then walk 30 sec then run 1.5 min this is perfect for weight loss(was told my personal trainer)
watch what you eat. cut down all junk food, fried food. Eat small breakfast, then have a healthy snack (fruit or dry fruits) then small lunch and snack in evening. (raw vegetable with some dressing like cucumber with ranch or celery with low fat ranch.) Small dinner.

Good luck and remember that something that gives you drastic result has some catch or some harm to you.

im not lacking any nutrients i just explained i eat everything.... so dont worry also i didnt say i starve myself after 7 PM i usually take milk and tea and juices and salads and fruits and such things...it really is not drastic subway was just for the first two weeks then it was fish and boiled rice for a month along with subway and then after the first month it was anything and everything no drastic results i gradually lost my pounds and i am eating normal...this is my normal habbit now.

this is not really a diet bause one you are not depriving yourself of any foods you eat everything and two you are not starving yourself you jsut eat smaller portions every 3-4 hours and since you are still eating everything thats why i said not to eat after 7 pm because 7 pm k baad you shouldnt be having starches and sugars and carbs....but really u dont even starve urself after 7 pm u take a lot of fluids you eat salads and fruits...

seriously tell me whats wrong with that

The two principles that llxxll mentioned,** stop eating before you are full** and **not eating till very hungry **also worked for me when I was trying to lose weight a few years back.

I did however eat healthy snacks between my meals. Plus I was excercising up to an hour every day. It was a combination of everything but I know for sure the above mentioned rules helped a great deal.

I think just the way llxxll described her diet sounds drastic but really its the right way to do it. Along with exercise the best way to eat is to eat small and frequent meals. If you eat every 3-4 hours you would not get very hungry that you risk your health. Also not eating after 7 is the oldest strategy around since sleeping on a full stomach is not recommended. Of course you should eat healthy foods and avoid fatty foods. Plus breakfast is very essential since its your first meal in the day and gives you energy for the rest of the day.

PS. its sunnah to stop eating before you are full and leave some room :)

Which subway sandwiches did you have? I mean not all are low calorie. I think the roasted chicken sandwich is low calorie & maybe the turkey one.

A low calorie sandwich means u have all the veggies + low fat cheese + meat (roasted chicken or turkey breast or which ever one) + all sauces (except mayonnaise). Right?

Also, the subway diet would be pretty expensive. I mean approximately Rs. 450+ or 5 pounds+ everyday.

the subway diet sounds horrible for ones health, i don't know anyone who considers it anything other than junk food. processed white flour breads and white rice are carbohydrates galore and this kind of almost starving ones self and then overloading with sugars is what leads to type 2 diabetes later in life.

not eating until your full is recommended (and also sunnah) but not eating until you're so hungry you could collapse? that doesn't sound healthy to me at all.

try to keep the carbs at lunch time when the body will use them during the day. don't start cutting back the proteins otherwise your hair and skin will suffer.

just analyse your diet, i'm sure there are plenty of snacks that could be removed or reduced or portion sizes decresed.

I am getting married in 2010 and have gotten myself a personal trainer (who iam paying out of the behind for) and have started the Gillian McKeith diet. It's tough but Iam already feeling lighter.

lol ok subway was just for two weeks please read my post again i didnt stay on that for even a month... as for not eating until i collapsed that was just an exagerration i only meant i dont eat till I am extremely hungry...please dont take me that literally

and like i said after the first onth i started eating everything proteins carbs etc...just not after 7

ugh m an idiot lol i meant to write for two weeks i had subways for the next two weeks i had fish and boiled rice most of the time along with salads and fruits and then after that month ( 2 weeks + 2 weeks ) i ate anything and everything but just kept my principles intact...i.e. not eating until i was extremely hungry eating every 3-4 hours...leaving space in my tummy...i.e. when i ate i kept some of the hunger...and did not eat a proper meal after 7 PM just had fluids salads and fruits

the subways i ate were either oven roasted chicklen breast tuna or seafood sensation

i wouldnt touch subway sandwiches for long periods of times either but 2 weeks is really not that logn when all ur doing is eating a foot long per day but just spacing it out...and thats not the only thing u eat you still keep having ur salads and fruits and fluids

It's not 'healthy' at all. It's ridiculous.

But what the hey, you look like a model now eh, 'food doesnt taste as good as skinny feels' - in terms of food = subway.
