For me, i believe in simplicity. At my wedding, i plan on doing mehndi and nice reception dinner at decent wedding hall inviting close family and friends. That’s all, since i personally do not believe in jahaiz nor i will accept any of that non-sense. But Kudos to most of the people here who have intention of doing simple wedding. But i also ppl who are saving up and will be pitching in for the wedding.

Thank you. The thing is, Ive already had my big wedding and it took me that much to realize just how little it means in a marriage. The best marriages I know (some of them are even here on GS) have had the very humblest beginnings.

That is NOT to say though that I am trying to look down upon those who do choose to have lavish affairs or that they wont be happy. There is nothing more beautiful than a fairytale wedding with a happy marriage to follow. Inshallah, we will all have happy endings. Its just a personal preference and a trend I have noticed.

No, they dont all happen at the local masjid. I think we all know that much. But it wouldnt be a bad idea if they did…maybe they should…maybe this thread will give someone the push they need.
